Hi i've just noticed that my drivers side rear wheel is leaning in ever so slightly! ive checked the wheel for movement on the ground and there is no movement, also tried jacking it up and there is no movement either. And there's no sign of the usual symptoms i.e knocking over bumps etc. Could it be something nice and easy to fix or is it the start of the axle failing??

you need to check the arm, not the wheel

Hi It's a little confusing the wheel is leaning in but have tried by pulling at the wheel again with someone looking underneath the car with it on the ground and raised again and there is no movement from the radius arm or anything that we can see! Is there any other way to check the radius arm? Or is there anything else that could be causing the wheel to lean in?

To camm206, it would be better to change the axle, I changed the axle bearings and bushes about a year ago and am in the process of buying a recon axle as it's got play and rattles after only a year I expected it to last Sad

This, are you sure it's not just standard camber? If there is no play in the trailing arm I wouldn't worry about it.

And camm they are both the same issue. For reasons it's not worth going into just changing the radial arm could be both extremely time consuming and pointless if the stub has been worn down.

This is why most places just say new axle, much less room for error and more straight forward to fix.

Could be wrong but I think IM axles sell a completely refurbed axle for £350 with your old one trade in, the best option imo this is what I will be doing if mine ever goes.

There was one on here a few years back in the snow that even fired the seat side airbag because it hit the kerb side on hard enough to trigger it Rolling On The Floor Laughing
