Think your right Rich, changing the ECU and BSI is what I think you need to do as well

I could tell you an answer to this BUT it would be wrong, PM Lee or MR.BSi they will probably know.
#7: Re: key fob Question Author: rick-gti, Location: welshpool, mid walesPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:29 am ---- Cheers for that Rich, i'll wait and see if either of them reply to this thread. I am thinking of just changing the ecu, transponder, ignition and bsi then i will have use of two keys will also swop the door locks aswell.
Abit of a pain if i have to do all this tho, if you have a look here you will see why im doing it. www.206info.co.uk/Foru...rt=45.html
#8: Re: key fob Question Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 1:27 pm ---- If you are swapping the exact same engine, why are you changing the keys?
#9: Re: key fob Question Author: rick-gti, Location: welshpool, mid walesPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 1:51 pm ---- The car im putting the engine in only has 1 key and I need 2 keys.
#10: Re: key fob Question Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 2:17 pm ---- Then you need to swap the BSI, ECU and IMMO chips over.
Or just get a new key coded to the 2nd car.
#11: Re: key fob Question Author: rick-gti, Location: welshpool, mid walesPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 2:31 pm ---- How much will it be to code a key to the gti im fitting the engine in?
#12: Re: key fob Question Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 2:37 pm ---- I can supply you with the chip and security code for the BSI that will remain in the car, for £15 delivered.
I could also get you a price on the key itself if you wanted me too.
To code the key will be about £60-100 usually depending where you go. I charge £25 which includes a fault code scan as well, as I do it the same way as Peugeot do via the eobd port in order to change the frequency to remove any "lost" keys to stop them starting the car. I travel 20 miles included in that price too, then its 60p a mile one-way after that.
#13: Re: key fob Question Author: rick-gti, Location: welshpool, mid walesPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 2:58 pm ---- In total I have 4 keys from 3 different gti's I have a firedance gti that im fitting an engine from my gti into. I intend on using the firedance gti then as my car and stripping mine. The 2 keys I have that match can I use them if I swop the ecu, bsi, and transponder. I will just use the fob and get a key cut so I have 2 keys that fit the ignition. If you get me
#14: Re: key fob Question Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 3:14 pm ---- Yeah that'll be fine then.
I thought you still wanted to use both cars.
#15: Re: key fob Question Author: rick-gti, Location: welshpool, mid walesPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 3:50 pm ---- No if you read my project thread you will see why im doin the swop.
