#6: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:17 am ---- is that not the drop links?
#7: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:23 am ---- Right basically you have the anti roll bar drop links with ball joints on either ends with a nut and you have to keep the ball joint from spinning while undoing the nut, so you have to put either a 5mm allen key or T30 torx bit in the end with a 17mm spanner on the nut, keep the socket held while turning the nut
hope this helps
#8: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:26 am ---- so is it the drop links im actually changing and not the anti roll bar?
#9: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:31 am ---- i would have to imagine so, the explanations for drop links vary from tester to tester, at the price they cost i would just change them anyway, i also changed my anti roll bar bushed last month and they only cost me 10 pair from peugeot so they are a cheap change, again a very simple job to do, only need an inverted torx socket and a 18mm spanner to hold the nut above the sub frame
#10: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:37 am ---- I had the drop links changed last year, surely they cant have gone already, will get someone to take a look before i start and thanks for the pics and notes.
#11: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:40 am ---- in the years and a half ive had my 180 I've gone through 2 sets, last time i went direct though peugeot
were the ones you fitted cheap ones?
#12: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:43 am ---- I didnt do the last ones a garage did it so dont know.I suppose the garage would have bought them from europarts or somewhere like that and not peugeot.
#13: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:46 am ---- ah okay, normally euro cars parts are okay, i like to use there parts when peugeot want to much and have had no problem with anything from there,
#14: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:50 am ---- If i can find receipt out might be able to get them changed for free,i presume you get 12 months warranty. If not will go to peugeot and buy from them.
#15: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 138Andy, Location: NottsPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 8:54 am ---- get under the car and push the drop link up if you hear it clicking means there's play in them and need replacing
i always buy my parts from peugeot then just pay the garage labour to fit them that way you know they will last and your not getting skiffed
#16: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:03 am ---- peugeot part number is 508759 and they come in at £30.70 each also try what andy said that might allow you to see how bad they are, although on most occasions i couldn't get mine to knock unless wheel was off the floor
#17: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:06 am ---- ok thank you, cant do anything now till tuesday because of bank holiday.MOT tester said they didnt need doing straight away.
#18: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:44 am ---- The ARB is the bar with 2 rubbers holding it to the sub frame
#19: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 9:51 am ---- spike do you have a picture of the anti roll ball joint by chance.
#20: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 10:24 am ---- sorry for the awful quality its quite tricky to get a picture when you only just get your arm under the seal but its the brackets on the subframe which hold the bars with a rubber bearing that wears
#21: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:01 am ---- Lol they wernt very specific on there advisory were they! it could of been eather 2bf as they do join together at Eather end. Check for play in the drop links 1st like whats been said above as a pair off eBay is only £18
#22: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: 206racer, Location: derbyshirePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:13 am ---- this is what it says

#24: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Dan-, Location: BiggleswadePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:30 am ---- yeah mikey thats for the drop links
#25: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:33 am ---- Good job mine dont need replacing but that is expensive
#26: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:36 am ---- My 206 last had some drop links fitted back in 2005, then again genuine Peugeot parts do last a long time.
Buy cheap = buy twice
Same with wishbones.
#27: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 3:36 pm ---- +1
Buy cheap and do them in less than 12 months. Buy genuine or reputable and they should last for many years.
#28: Re: anti roll bar ball joint Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 3:45 pm ---- I had some genuine puegeot wishbones and they lasted less than 12months got some from euro parts iirc and still going sting after 2years
