Hi all,

I have a 2003 Peugeot 206 GTI (3 doors, 2 ltre) and had it serviced recently.

The car needs a new catalytic converter, a new rear muffler and a new high pressure power steering pipe.

The Peugeot dealer in Perth wants to charge me AU$ 5.000 for that and I think he's trying to rip me off.

But then again - I don't know anything about cars!

I had a look on ebay and would like your opinion:

www.ebay.com.au/itm/BR...1c25ea383f

This muffler seems to be the right one but it says its from September 99. Did the mufflers change after that?

And I found this catalytic converter:
www.ebay.com.au/itm/BR...1e6d232138

Would this one fit?

Does anyone know anything about power steering pipes?

Appreciate your help! Smile

I believe $5000 is about £2500 in uk money, and for that you can buy a decent 206gti and probably enough left over to ship it to AUSSIELAND Cool

A UK spec 206 wouldnt be allowed to be imported or used in Australia as it doesnt meet there stringent safety laws due to the passenger airbag disarm switch Wink

You are not allowed to be able to disable the passenger side airbag in Australia as they dont allow child seats in the front.

That seems like a rip off. I would be looking at going with a non standard exhaust from a reputable exhaust shop. The price would be thousands less. They could even provide a sports cat as a replacement cat for you. Another option would be to import a janspeed or Scorpion exhaust from the UK. This would be costly but still much less than $5000. Good luck and tell us how it goes. Also try asking the guys on Aussiefrogs.com.au . There is often some really good advice on there.
