#1: 206 1.6 8v cams? Author: Adam2061994, Location: WrexhamPosted: Thu Apr 26, 2012 3:14 pm ---- im looking for a fast road cam, as this may help with a bit of power? anyone suggest any cam kits which fit this model? any answers appreciated?
#2: Re: 206 1.6 8v cams? Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Apr 26, 2012 3:28 pm ---- depends on how much you want to spend.
you will need adjustable pulley as well, plus the cost of remap too.
Kent PT40 is the common choice, power gain is minimum though...

If your headgasket has blown I would say go for it as you will be taking the head off anyway. You might be able to pick up one of these cams from 106owners cheap
#4: Re: 206 1.6 8v cams? Author: Adam2061994, Location: WrexhamPosted: Fri Apr 27, 2012 2:28 am ---- what am i looking at in gains wise? if i was to map it too? i have a full straight through system now from 4-2-1 manifold, ive had the head skimmed to 20thou and an uprated headgasket, thanks

Isnt there issues with 106 Gti cams making the valves hit the pistons on this engine or is that later model engine?
Just realised its an 8v engine so my comment probably wont matter.

Thats with the 16 valvers The 8 valve silver top head is similar between the late 106s and 206s, you tend to see PT40 cam for sale on 106owners (used) Last edited by Andrew on Fri Apr 27, 2012 3:26 am; edited 1 time in total

Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Fri Apr 27, 2012 3:31 am ---- I'm guessing with the exhaust you've gained about 5hp and the manifold puts you in good stead for future mods, if you are taking the head off again to put a cam in I'd get it port and polished properly, this will maximise the gains from the cam. Depends how well that is done, you'd be looking at around 120hp with the adjustable cam pulley and remap

i am surprise if you can hit 120bhp with pt40.
kent only quote for 10bhp gain
but again the TU5J4 block is quite a bad design so....

That 120hp was with his manifold, pt40, cam pulley set up, port and polish, remap

on the 98 bhp saxo VTR i have seen people with similar mop hitting 118bhp on dyno

#13: Re: 206 1.6 8v cams? Author: Adam2061994, Location: WrexhamPosted: Sat Apr 28, 2012 5:18 am ---- so a pt40 cam with a remap you would suggest, port and polished? know anyone who would provide all that for me?:) x
