That isn't my prices - I was just trying to estimate what the parts would sell for - I expect there is some stuff either too cheap or expensive. It just a thread to try and work out the best option.
#50: Re: 206 gti 180 - break or sell whole Author: -Dave-, Location: North ManchesterPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 2:16 pm ---- If you have the time, space and patience to break it then do it. But apart from the popular bits you may find yourself sitting on stuff that may not sell for a while. However selling it as it is may not give you the best return but saves a lot of work breaking the car, Advertising the parts and sending them out to people. Plus not having to deal with people letting you down or trying to say items haven't turned up etc.

I'd say Arbs aside, those prices look about right.

Working out the numbers I got to the following:
Sell the car whole= £1200-1400 as it stands
Break the car = £2100+ using rough prices as outlined below not including all the other little bits and bobs
Wheels £250 - ok
Bonnet £50 - too high
Engine £200 - too low
Arbs £80 - too high
Rear lights £40 - too high
Headlights £50 - ok
Front bumper £50 - too low
Rear bumper £40 - too high
Steering wheel £40 - too high
Seats £250 - ok
Pedals £10 - ok
Doorcards+Glovebox lid £150 - way too high
Handbrake £15 - ok
Speedo surround £50 - too high
Gear knob £15 - too high
Mirrors + switch £80 - too low
Wings £80 pair - too high
Boot strip £20 - too low
Spoiler £50 - too low
Gearbox £80 - too low
Arch liners £20 - too high
Vent sliders? £10 - too high
Radio & Cd changer £60 - too high
Climate unit £40 - too high
PPT40 £40 - ok
Doors £40 each - too high
Tailgate £35 - won't sell with the holes in it from the spoiler
Comm2000 £35 - too low
Rear axle £100 - too low
So as you can see it almost makes sense to break it.
What are your thoughts?
#54: Re: 206 gti 180 - break or sell whole Author: anton1989, Location: west midlandsPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 3:08 pm ---- At £80 I will take the mirrors ill have the front bumper aswell if the grill comes with it, so there is £130. And maybe the wing but not at that price.
if it was my car I would put it on all the free posting ad sites (gumtree, here, swapz, etc) for a week, if nothing then ebay for a week with a buy now/make an offer if yu don't get what you want then break it. depends how quick you want the money back if you break it you may get a little more but you will see your money in bits over loads of weeks maybe months?

#56: Re: 206 gti 180 - break or sell whole Author: Stigter, Location: NorthwestPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 3:17 pm ---- Either way - there is more money in the parts then selling it now with 3 months mot and tax. (labour excluded)
#57: Re: 206 gti 180 - break or sell whole Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 3:20 pm ---- But it might take 6 months to sell them all.
#58: Re: 206 gti 180 - break or sell whole Author: Seabook, Posted: Sun May 06, 2012 3:24 pm ---- it probably going to take you over a yr to get 2K if you are lucky lol
#59: Re: 206 gti 180 - break or sell whole Author: JamieM, Posted: Sun May 06, 2012 4:05 pm ---- If you have the time and can be asked to wait for it all to sell... fair play.
Factor in shipping costs, paypal fee's for those who don't want to pay cash on collection, your labour assuming you can remove it all yourself if not other labour... people offering less, things taking yonks to sell...
Car is in good nick bar the high mileage, I'd bung it up at 2k OVNO
If you take the time to advertise it, i.e good pictures, good description and waffle on about it's history ect I'm sure you could get 1800.
