Aye the instruments are further away but you work that out within a week. The wheel is so much lighter and you feel more in control as there's not a great big lump in the middle of the wheel and it makes you sit back in the seat a lot more.

Pez - totally agree - you do get used to it, and I just like the feel of a smaller wheel, and the grip makes you feel a lot more in control
Usher - I had thought of that with mine as I was finding the harnesses putting me in a position which was a little uncomfortable for the reach of the wheel. I had moved the seat a little further forward, but this meant my legs were to close to the pedal box. The joys of being 6ft3 and driving a hot hatch =)

#216: Re: SINFUL DESIGN GTi 180 Track Project Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Fri Jun 20, 2014 6:45 pm ---- Latest update following fan issues. The failing of the fan circuit just bought about this change sooner as I don't like how late the fan cuts in.
Using a separate dedicated sender switch running directly to the relay (thus bypassing all the air con poo, which has been removed, and the ECU), now cuts in at 90deg and out at 82deg. Far better for a track car. I have also installed an LED in the console which lights when the fan comes on, as well as an override switch should it be required - see below;
Also took the opportunity to finally give the engine bay a good clean up and tidy the wiring etc..
Let's hope the weather is good this weekend!

Then with everything on the strut I put all back in place. Word of warning - do a visual check of Bilstein shocks BEFORE fitting. Part numbers were wrong. Ended up fitting drivers side to passenger side. But didn't realise until I bolted it in... So.. back out, back in with correct shock and viola!
Only ARB to do (oh, and other side!).. and then its brakes, fluid changes and done.
wish i saw this when I put in mine, popped a drop link, silly me saw the stain on the drop links too

Things are just being enjoyed with the motor now. Car is absolutely faultless and drives perfectly. Pulls in every gear - few traction problems in 1st and 2nd however
