#128: Re: SINFUL DESIGN GTi 180 Track Project Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 10:53 am ---- Been a while since I got around to doing anything, but did the small job of changing the coolant and decided to replace top and bottom hose - OEM items as no pretty posh ones on the market for the 180, but also decided to remove the thermostat - needed a bit of determination with a hacksaw and rounded file, but soon sorted..
Quick and cheap mod and makes a world of difference to the running temperature. Used to do this at shock hatch

I need some sort of sealant to cover the hole ect to prevent rust, what would you recommend? As I know you've used some good stuff.

#132: Re: SINFUL DESIGN GTi 180 Track Project Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 3:55 pm ---- Yes waxoyl is the best stuff - but bear in mind this is an overcoat. You need to protect any bare metal. I suggest a zinc primer. I usually waxoyl over this directly, but if you want to go all out, you can always put a coat of smooth hammerite over the primer before the waxoyl...
But when you do put the waxoyl on, do not go too nuts with it..!! You really do not need that much - a thin layer offer a lot of protection
#135: Re: SINFUL DESIGN GTi 180 Track Project Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 4:27 pm ---- only need aerosol if you are covering bigger areas... and if you are doing this on the deck, I would def avoid spray unless you want to change ethnicity...
