Can any one help, broken gear selector!

#1: Can any one help, broken gear selector! Author: canonfire, Location: Bath PostPosted: Sat May 26, 2012 2:20 pm

At least thats what i think i did, I was at the lights and gave it some beans, but missed second and crunched the gear ( Embarassed ) and then nothing, engine fine but the gear stick was just loose and felt connected to nothing. I managed to get it over the side of the road and when i looked down into the engine bay, that bar that comes from the gear box has dislocated from the horizontal bar (looks like it has snapped)

Does anyone know if this is a gearbox out job or just replacing the linkage/selector arm as I can't see without removing everything how it's bolted to the gear box? Any help appreciated:)

Is the gear selector a Y shape thing inside the gearbox housing?? Sure a gear linkage hasn't piped off or broken?

linkages can be done from under the car, but if its a gear selecter fork that the shaft goes in to the box it will need to come out.

Thanks for the replies

If i look down into the bay from the top there is a bar coming from the box sticking upwards, and the bar coming from the left hand side has snapped off....

Just a linkage rod then. They are cheap Enof. If I remember right there's 2 long rods and 1 short rod. Your best to get genuine parts.
