#1: Drivers seat wont lock into position Author: DCFC734, Location: uk PostPosted: Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:29 am

Had a problem this morning where the drivers seat wouldn't lock into place. Question is is the bit/part that locks the seat into place part of the seat or part of the runners that are under the seat ? Reason I ask is i found a broken part on the mat behind the drivers seat thats broken off which i presume is part of the locking mechanism.

I can post a picture of the broken part if it helps ?

Yes there's a T section part broken off the end of the slide/catch

You can see the T section here

Peugeot don't sell the part separately and want to sell you the whole seat runner assembly. Item 4. Pretty expensive too

Or you can search scrappies but they are a commonly broken item so they are scarce and scappies too will want to sell you the whole runners with a probably just as worn and ready to break slider as they are made of cast aluminium

Some people drill the seat in one position and bolt it there so it will never move again but that's a bit drastic

Or, if you're handy with an angle grinder and files etc then you can make your own modified one out of solid aluminium bar, like I did (shown above) which retains all the seat functions (front/ back/tilt/slide etc) fully operational and you can be sure it will never break again Smile

Thanks deckchair, yes visiting a scrappie was something i had thought of but alas thats out the window. Im not handy with an angle grinder (dont even own 1). So my options are drill a hole and bolt in place but i guess the seat wouldn't move then would it, angle grind it like deckchair did or get peugeot to replace it.

Dont have much choice do i ?

Could another garage do the job (just thinking of the cost) or is peugeot d/ship only option ?

Any garage could replace the runners for sure once they'd obtained the new ones from Peugeot but it's quite easy to remove the seat and replace the runners yourself.

£60 ph plus parts but the runner assembly is expensive. I think it's around £120

Yes i think so. 2 hours tops even taking your time. I suppose you could just take out the new slider/catch and drop it into your existing runner, expensive slider though

I can remove a front seat in 20mins (with being careful)

Just watched the video, seems easy enough to do, undo the 4 bolts, lift out the seat, replace the runners with the new ones and fit the seat. Only question i have is does the runners come away from the seat easy enough ?

Would i just need to search for seat runner when looking to buy 1 ?

Yes just 4 bolts and it falls out

Yes that's the thing that is going to be time consuming. I wish you luck with that

Probably even quicker with an airgun but we are talking virgin seat remover here Smile
