Is it displaying random lines across the screen in place of the numbers? Mine did this and it turned out to be that the ribbon was unsticking from the board. I wedged a little bit of card behind to press it onto the contacts and it worked for me. Not sure how long it will last like that as I only did it a few days ago and the car is off the road at the min.

i couldn't get the bulb to come out so had to get the whole holder. i tried pulling it and everything
