Okay heres the problem -

After about 10 minutes of the car running, either sat on the driveway or running on the road, it starts to run on 3 cylinders. When i go to it in the morning its fine & Runs on all 4 for about ten minutes.

Taken coilpack out & cleaned it
Changed spark plugs to boach super 4's about 5k ago

I dont have no idea :/

The coilpack on my old 180 went, but it completley went, it wouldnt run on 4 any of the time.

Sounds the same as mine recently. I tested the coil pack with 4 plugs in and it all seemed fine. I ran out of things to check and discard as the cause of the fault.

I went to the motor factors this morning and picked up a coil pack new for £30 and my engine runs nearly fine again. The coil pack was the cause of the misfire poor running even though the original seemed fine under test.

This does sound like a faulty coil pack which is a common thing on pugs

Yeah it is coilpack, was just wondering why it is intermitant & only both my 180's its the number 4 thats gone dead ? Is there a reason behind this or just coincedance ?

You know my thoughts Lee :-),
To be honest if it is a coinsidence its unlikely,
How many miles does your silver gti 180 have on it now and how many miles this the blue gti 180 have on it when the coil pack went , also I'm going to do an experiment with them different spark plugs and I'll post up the results, im not sure if it will the the cause but I'm intrigued as to what the difference is and if different plug manufacturers can make a difference
