#1: bought a hdi . . . . . Author: anton1989, Location: west midlandsPosted: Sat Jul 14, 2012 3:19 pm ---- well as if i never had enough problems with my last car
bought myself a hdi today 2ltr, black, 3dr, 52plate, 97,000 miles, AND some problems
so everything was fine on the test drive car was spot on, clutch good, gearbox good etc etc. was very dirty and need the odd thing like a fog light as the old one had water in? and some other stuff. for the price not really bothered.
on to the issue im new to the multi-plex model before i go further, on the drive home i stopped for diesel and noticed the aftermarket h/u stayed on alond with the mfd, thought yellow red wire issue, also noticed the indicators did not flash when i locked the car? so got home and started to pull the h/u out. it kept getting caught on something so removed the whole vent/mfd display thing to find that the mfd display had been hot wired to the h/u live???????
so took the display thing off and wires had been cut and a wire went down to the live feed ment for the h/u
so took this off, re-wired the mfd, connected the battery back up and started the car to see . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . AIRBAG FAULT and ANTI-POLLUTION FAULT
why me???????????
guy says has no idea and never knew
what is the anti-pollution fault?
horn not working so could this be the spool thing causing airbag fault?
#2: Re: bought a hdi . . . . . Author: ARRAN, Location: WiltshirePosted: Sat Jul 14, 2012 3:23 pm ---- Maybe it has been wired to HU to prevent buyers from seeing it has an anti pollution fault.
Anti pollution fault is usually a problem with the cat;emissions. Could be a exhaust leak, bad injector, EGR fault.. Best way to find out is to have is to have it plugged in and have the fault read, and then go from there with the code.

#18: Re: bought a hdi . . . . . Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Sat Jul 14, 2012 6:28 pm ---- I'm liking the hdis ATM trying to get my bro to get one as he's On the look out for a new car and reccomended a hdi 206 over the 1.6ect low tax, lower running cost, lower insurance. He's not botherd about speed just aslong as it's better than his 1.2 corsa lol.
Any advice what to look out for on these?

was told to stay clear of the 1.6 hdi as it as never ending problems, the 2ltr is meant to be a solid engine from what everyones says on here, the one 1.4hdi is slow but was told with a re map can hit 90bhp which is what the 2ltr hdi runs at.
I saw 3 2ltr hdi's and the all three had the airbag fault, this could have just been a coincident?
I could not find a good one for less than £1500 good meaning, good miles gearbox etc etc.
cant really give much more advice, wish I had more when looking, I can say few faults aside the car put a smile on my face on the way back very nippy, I had the gt tdi 115 bhp 6 speed mk4 golf before this and that failed to make smile as much considering it cost nearly a thousand pound more
#20: Re: bought a hdi . . . . . Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Sun Jul 15, 2012 2:39 am ---- Sound mate thanks for the advice, He's sort of looked to me to help him find a good one but not sure what to look for in cars nowadays due to my car being nothing standard lol.
I'll tell him that as I think he was looking at the 1.6 hid gti? But if you can get the 1.4 upto the 2.0 power with some lights then thats good.

#22: Re: bought a hdi . . . . . Author: Davies, Location: ManchesterPosted: Sun Jul 15, 2012 2:57 am ---- As anton said the 1.6 is a no go. I own a 2.0 HDI. Toms old car poppy. They are lovely to drive and highly modifiable in terms of performance. The economy is amazing and so is tax an insurance!
