#1: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: lee1985, Location: North WestPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 7:41 am ---- I want a performance exhaust to give my car a more sporty sound, not bothered about performance as I know it'll only add about 1 BHP.
Question is, do they actually sound sporty, in terms of sound - are they worth it at £400 for a cat back system? If so, which one. I want one that sounds loud (within reason, not like a subaru) and sporty but not like these chavvy idiots whose exhausts sound awful, like they are blowing raspberries.
Also, the bottom part of my exhaust (on the inside and around the edges) is black, does this happen over a long time or pretty quick? I ask because it would be nice to keep my new exhaust looking very shiny for quite a long time - possible?
Its hard to explain exactly but best bet would to have a search on youtube

#4: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: LiamGTi180, Location: OxfordPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 7:47 am ---- Yeah i have Janspeed and it isnt really LOUD but is louder than the Scorpion
#5: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: broadblaster, Location: south coastPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:08 am ---- japspeeds on both of mine sounds spot on but if your going to be doing loads of really long motorway runs they do get a bit tiresome after a couple of hrs.

If you do then it is a very small world lol
#10: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: SinfulDesignCom, Location: Ashford, KentPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 10:56 am ---- Janspeed the whole way - look at how the systems are made... The Scorpian uses the same silly piping as the standard which bends through about 2 miles of tubing to get to the bumper, whereas the Janspeed goes directly front to back. May not help so much with power - although technically it should, but also think more on weight reduction and heat transfer...
Makes sense...
MARTINIUS - just had to comment on the video...
#11: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: Andy180, Location: Stoke on TrentPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 11:21 am ---- 2 miles of piping ? there's no difference power wise between the 2 systems if you want a loud exhaust get the janspeed although its not a particulary nice sound.

Ok - 2 miles is a little bit overstated, but if you look at the two systems you will see what I mean... think of it this way... if the Janspeed was a roman road, then the standard (and Scorpion in this case) is a Welsh b-road..
#13: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 4:29 pm ---- Dont Scorpion make the pug sport exhaust witch sounds epic.
#14: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: 206boyracer, Location: Sunny CornwallPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 1:58 am ---- Don't know if they make one for the 180 but I have a magnex system on my 138 I have had the centre box removed and that gives a nice deep tone. Burbles a little too and pops when I slow in the gears. Doesn't sound very raspy in the high revs either.

#18: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: Nick_C, Location: BristolPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2012 2:55 pm ---- Have a scorpion on mine as well. Looks really nice and a subtle sound, sometimes wish was a bit louder. Had 2 centre sections crack where the front pipe goes into the box as they dont have the guide pipe that the standard system has. Always been replaced for free though.

#19: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: karimali831, Location: EnglandPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2012 3:32 pm ---- The sound will go off with the scorpion over time, when the inside of the tailpipes rust it hardly has any sound at all.
#20: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: Andy180, Location: Stoke on TrentPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2012 3:37 pm ---- Thats not at all
#21: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: data, Location: HerefordPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2012 3:50 pm ---- If someone would like to donate to me a Scorpion or Janspeed exhaust, I would be willing to test them and provide my superior judgment
#22: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: gd_85, Posted: Tue Jan 07, 2014 10:59 am ---- Raising a dead topic. Ok so scorpion is the quieter of the two systems but what's the best system for power gains?
#23: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: broadblaster, Location: south coastPosted: Tue Jan 07, 2014 2:06 pm ---- both will make so little gains that you won't tell the diffrence anyway mate so go for whatever one takes your fancy
#24: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: gd_85, Posted: Mon Jan 13, 2014 5:01 pm ---- Cheers. Think it will be scorpion, just after gains and style with not all the extra noise. Don't want it on the daily runner haha.
#25: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: JamieM, Posted: Tue Jan 14, 2014 3:19 am ---- I prefer the looks of the Scorpion and exhaust note. However, and I've owned both the Janspeed is louder and pops more without a decat. If Scorpion could make a Pugsport for this, and do it properly like they did on previous ones I'd swap it out.
Oh and the Scorpion is IIRC best for gains.
My car is quite loud, and does pop alot without a decat. If you want noise, you will be disappointed with a Scorpion unless you remove the centre section & decat in, that's when it comes alive.
#26: Re: Scorpion exhaust for GTI 180 (or Janspeed) Author: paulspug, Location: Spalding lincolnshirePosted: Tue Jan 14, 2014 3:54 am ---- i have the scorpion, but just doesnt sit right at the back - always looks a long way from the rear valance.
tried to adjust many times and garages dont want to adjust as will involve cutting and welding the exhaust.
Janspeed however look good and sit perfect at the back.
i cant say there would be any difference in either performance wise, but i will be getting a janspeed, just for cosmetic values
