Basically doing the service on 206 GTI180 changed oil and filter removed airbox lid and filter and noticed a massive split in the pipe that goes from the box to the butterfly type valve (EGR i think) on front of engine is this a part that the local autofactors will have or is it stealers only and if it is stealers will it be on the shelf??? or can i scrounge the local dismantlers for a standard gti one or are all engines the same??? Also i noticed on the filter there is sponge attached to the bottom of the paper filter is this normal??? and if so why is it there??? and last but not least the actual cold air seems to be divided into two and pretty narrow near the bottom would there be any benefit of putting a larger coold air feed on

The butterfly thing your on about is the throttle body and the pipe going to filter box is the intake pipe would imagine its dealer only part or scrappy or eBay but would have to be a gti 180 one as there bigger in diameter. or you could replace with a silicone one.

Yes it's normal for the 180 air filter to have sponge on it.
