#1: Gearbox for a 2002 1.4 HDi Diesel Author: Nellie, Location: DevonPosted: Wed Aug 01, 2012 12:04 pm ---- Hi My mechanic tells me either the gearbox or diff is getting noisy on my 2002 1.4 HDi.
So I have started to look at prices on ebay but there seem to be so many variations can somebody tell me which is the correct one I require?
Some seem to suggest the 1.6 petrol is the same but I am not sure at all.
Any help/advice appreciated
Neil

The 1st-4th cluster and the 5th gear are split ratios and ratio respectively. I've never seen them on any other MA5 box.

you will bust you engine if you put the petrol box in
you can find your gearbox model number on the casting.

#9: Re: Gearbox for a 2002 1.4 HDi Diesel Author: Nellie, Location: DevonPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 2:34 am ---- Hi Interested yes, but a long way for me to come from Devon. In my job as a private hire driver I sometimes come your way I will keep you in mind.
The main issue with mine apart from the slight noise which could be a drive shaft or wheel bearing its hard to tell exactly is that it is extremely hard to get into reverse 1st through to 5th no problems
but finding reverse is a game of hit or miss it will eventually go in after several attempts
Many thanks

Learn to drive correctly then, ALL 206 gearboxes are like that

Never had a problem with my 1.4 hdi going into reverse although I've seen several posts where people complain of this problem. Perhaps the gear linkage need replacing/adjustment?
