Shaking wing mirror!!

#1: Shaking wing mirror!! Author: brabus4, Location: Northumberland PostPosted: Fri Aug 10, 2012 5:06 pm
    ----
I've googled this and found several people that have suffered the same type of issue . . . when driving, my passenger side wing mirror shakes, making it very difficult to see properly.

I've checked it out as best as I can and it's definitely the plastic housing, not the mirror section. It looks like something needs to be tightened up maybe?

Anyone got any ideas??

Cheers. Very Happy

Open your door and Pull off the plastic cover from behind the mirror. (the cover with the tweeter in or manual adjuster on) There are 3 torx screws behind. Try tightening them up!

Mine shake but that's due to my music being too loud

My drivers side does this, started after I fitted new wing mirros (180 folding ones) very annoying when driving, its nothing to do with torx screws in my case, its the mirror that shakes not the plastic, let me know if you fix yours as I have not a clue

It's not my mirror that shakes, it's the entire plastic casing from where the mirror folds in. The mirror glass is solid enough. Tried tightening screws, but no joy.

No idea why the mirror housing is slack, but I definitely need to sort it out, drives me crazy when I'm out and about! Just don't fancy paying over the odds for a new mirror when there could be an easy fix . . .

There are also 3 mini-torx screws on the outside underside of the mirror casing itself.
They are covered by mini rubber bungs which once taken-off reveal the screw heads beneath.

Even if they appear 'tight', give them a super-good twist and shake will be gone..

Yeah I tried this too, but they were so tight that they couldn't be tightened any more. It's doing my head in now! Haha.

Try again, use a good tool and put some effort into it.

It's definately those if it's shaking at the 'folding pivot' but you have to tighten them like hell,
even if they feel rock-solid.

Tried again, no joy! Crying or Very sad

It's as tight as it's ever going to be, so god knows what's causing it to shake. Can't live with it, that's for sure . . . it's driving me mental!

Get a new wing mirror then? Someone must have hit it previously.
