went to leave the house for work this morning and problems straight away
started it up and straight away it was struggling to idle properly, gave it a little gas, then the idle dropped again to just under 500rpm, tried to give her a little gas again but this time as the revs were at 500rpm the engine struggled to pick up.
It did this for about 3 minutes then the revs started to pick up to 1000rpm when the engine light came on and stayed on, when the engine was turned off the radiator fan was on but couldn't understand why as the engine didn't have time to get hot enough.
Tried it again when I got home and all the above happened again, coolant and oil levels are fine, tps and crankshaft sensor have been replaced so a bit stumped as to what it is other than an electrical fault.

if you bring yours im sure it will make it but if we meet somewhere on the way and drive up together at least if you get a problem you wont be left on your own then

Would a faulty engine temp sensor cause the engine to sound and feel really lumpy on start up? Me and dad been discussing it also and think maybe the fuel pump could be behind the engine misbehaving but agree with you with regards to the engine temp sensor being faulty causing the fan to kick in, will know wednesday what it is hopefully although there was a nice purple ek civic which I could always sweet talk them into swapping

They arent expensive, and are a 5 minute job (ps check the connector for water residue and check the connector for corrosion as they do leak)
#13: Re: Another new problem Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Sun Aug 19, 2012 10:02 am ---- Got to wait til wednesday for that mate but just been outside to check on oil levels etc, started the car up and it sounded fine, fuel pump was heard starting up and everything seemed fine, left the engine running for 3 minutes and it sounded fine, no struggling to tick over or irreatic revs, not even the sound of the fan cutting in or the engine light coming on
still, not going to drive it til it has to go in the garage and they have good luck, once all sorted, up for sale it goes
