#1: Axle mount bushes Author: Fifer, Location: FifePosted: Sat Aug 18, 2012 12:26 pm ---- Is it possible to change the rear axle mounting bushes. After changing the axle bearings I'm still getting some clumping from the rear. Axle bearings now have no play. I believe the shocks need changing but the upper mounting bushes look in a poor state as well.
If you can change them do you need a press or is it just a simple swop?

#3: Re: Axle mount bushes Author: Fifer, Location: FifePosted: Sat Aug 18, 2012 1:04 pm ---- Just took the spare wheel off and crawled under. I then bounced the car. I could hear the pfffft on one shock but the other was silent. Guess that it then. New shocks needed.

#8: Re: Axle mount bushes Author: Fifer, Location: FifePosted: Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:25 pm ---- onSo are they supposed to do that. Oh well I think they needed doing anyway. I'm just under 100, 000 miles so unless previous owner did them. Got both for £40.
With the shocks off I again bounced the car. I heard a clumping and traced it to 1 exhaust mount. Moving the exhaust by hand didn't give a noise but moving the car did. One hole on 1 Mcount is elongated. Giving a clump. Either way I hope new mounts and new shocks solve it.
#9: Re: Axle mount bushes Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:30 pm ---- Remember that new OIL filled dampers need to be primed correctly before fitment on the car
You cant just bolt then straight on from the box.

Wait till you have the replacement ones first.
Oil dampers need priming where as gas dampers dont.
