Head Gasket...
-> 206 Problems

Hello all, I wonder if anyone else has had to deal with this?

I acquired my 206 about 2 weeks ago, bought it from a family friend at a good price. She has had it since new (03 1.4 8v quicksilver) and it needs some TLC.

The head gasket went on it about a month before she sold it to us, Now she had it repaired, and to be fair the oil and water are looking okay now, but there is a massive Mayo build up in the expansion tank.

I took it off last week and ran it under the sink tap with some hot water and copious amounts of washing up liquid. That has sorted out the bulk of it, but it seems that the expansion tank is a twin walled affair, and its a right game to agitate the water enough to break the residue loose.

just wondered if anyone else has done anything similar and what the best medium would be to shift it!!

Was thinking a bit of petrol in it give it a swish about rinse and replace.

Willing to take on all suggestions.

Thanks all in advance.

To clean the complete system out:

Drain the cooling system, refill it with water & some NON bio washing powder / tablets / liquid ( a scoop / capful or a couple of tablets ) or even dish washer tablets.

Take the car for a drive to get it nice & hot then drop the fluid out the system again, wait for the engine to cool down then refill with the correct mixture of anti freeze & water, bleed the system.

You need an OAT type antifreeze for the TU3 engine.

It MUST be NON bio whatever you use, DON'T put biological stuff in there as it will mix with the oil in the cooling system & turn to a nasty jelly like substance Laughing

If you just want the tank clean:

Take it of & stick it in the dishwasher OR soak it in a bucket with some washing fluid / powder, DON'T use petrol on it.
