Fault code P0502 - Vehicle Speed Sensor
-> 206 Problems

#1: Fault code P0502 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Author: mellish PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2012 4:26 am

Hoping someone may be able to help me, I have a 206 Sport and the engine management light came on the other day. The fault code I have been given is p0502, which is low input to the vehicle speed sensor. My question is, can anyone tell me where this sensor is? My boyfriend has looked for it but can't seem to spot it anywhere! Have heard various things, such as its in the gearbox or it runs through the abs, but just desperate to get a definitive answer so any help will be massively appreciated! Cheers

hi. if yours has a speed sensor on the gearbox then it will be a white plastic sensor on the back top of the gearbox just above were the drivers drive shaft goes into the gearbox, if its the abs type it will be on the passengers front wheel hub, it should have a dust/dirt cover held on by a 10mm nut, hope this helps at all

A Sport spec it should be part of the ABS system so there wont be a sensor on the gearbox.

ABS warning light going through correct check sequence on start up & not staying on while driving?

Speedo working?

Mileage reading still counting up?

I'd be tempted to scan it again for fault codes.

Thanx for this info! Would make sense if its through the ABS as my fella couldn't find it anywhere round the gearbox! The ABS light isn't on, the speedo seems to be working fine and so does the mileage counter. It's booked in the garage for Friday so it will no doubt be plugged in and the fault code double checked. Just hope it gets sorted!
Thanks so much again for your responses guys
