#1: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Mounty, Location: United KingdomPosted: Tue Oct 23, 2012 4:10 pm ---- Anyone know what sized socket I need to remove hub nut on GTi?
Cheers
#2: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Tue Oct 23, 2012 4:47 pm ---- Could be 32 or 35mm
#3: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Mounty, Location: United KingdomPosted: Tue Oct 23, 2012 4:50 pm ---- Its not 32mm, bigger than that. 34mm been suggested on another thread....?
#4: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Oct 23, 2012 5:37 pm ---- 35mm
or you could just measure it..... isn't that easier and quicker?
#5: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Mounty, Location: United KingdomPosted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:10 pm ---- Measured it at 35mm - Bought a 35mm impact socket and used it with impact gun. Came straight off with the gun. Socket felt a little loose and still not sure its not a 34mm nut??
#6: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:16 pm ---- well if you measure it and it said 35 how can it be 34?
#7: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Mounty, Location: United KingdomPosted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:25 pm ---- Job to measure with a tape as shaft thru centre of nut prevents you from getting tape close to nut for measuring. 35mm fits but a little play so now thinking it may be 34mm. Didn't matter in end as impact gun removed in 2 secs without having to strap up hub to stop it spinning
#8: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: DanT, Location: Torbay, EnglandPosted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:35 pm ---- Deffo a 35mm on my 180. 34 wasnt anywhere near fitting when i tried guessing first time lol.
#9: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:42 pm ---- it's all up to you whether you believe is 35mm or not
i use 35mm socket, Dan (above) agree with me, addaz (future master tech in pug dealership) also said 35mm, plus you did use 35mm socket to remove the nut
#10: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Mounty, Location: United KingdomPosted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:53 pm ---- No axe to grind, 35mm worked for me as i said, but it wasn't a tight fit. Just sayin
#11: Re: Front Hub Nut ??mm Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:55 pm ---- not surprise, either of mine is tight fit.
since they are not reusable i wouldn't worry too much
