it certainly drives alot better than my old gti and the ride is so smooth which surprises me as the car does look lowered but it glides over any bumps. No not put my foot down yet mate, taking my time to get used to her.

1 thing I am curious about, is there a switch to make the mirrors fold in when you lock the car? Seen it on my brothers but when I lock mine they stay as normal

You need to get the BSI option enabled for that my old one did it but my current has that option disabled.

You can still do it manually though by twisting the adjuster ( :

Yeah there's a few things you can get enabled Smile

I'm 99.9% sure mine did it on lock on my old one, it was only getting in to this one that I noticed things lol

I'm gonna look into that then because that would be good I normally fold mine in every time I park it somewhere manually so this will save all that p**sing about with the switch each time Smile

noticed a few things which need to be sorted, sp grille has come away from a clip, washer jets seen better day's, front lion badge and sp fuel could be doing with spraying black

Can't belive about the price you paid for it, in Croatia you can't buy used GTI 180 for less than 5000 €.

I'd just leave the tailgate badging as it is. Debadging is what penniless students that are desperate to modify something do.

Dude give a f*** what anyone else thinks it's your car do what YOU want.

The tailgate looks good as it is IMO but if you want to remove the badge go for it...

ATM it's the same as mine just the lion and GTi180 badge.

Jamie likes this.

maybe 1 day it will be removed mate but in all honestly it does look good with the lion badge.

Jamie when you got those mounts did you get 2 for the backbox? When my brother fitted his janspeed, noticed the backbox had 2 mounts

managed to order a set of new washer jets as the old units looked a bit grubby, this wknd will see more buying for the 180, hopefully a new lion badge for it be sprayed, super pro mount ready for the janspeed system and also a set of peugeot mud guards front & rear

I've got 2 but haven't fitted the second yet as the stock one on the left hadn't gave up and the new one gave no play from the rear bumper but I'll be putting it on when it does and replacing my middle mount with the powerflex item I have under my sink lol

Thanks mate, the car is certainly clean and want to keep it that way although my mind is in overload as to whether fit sp arches, what colour to do calipers/engine bay, stick with the sp front grille which was sprayed black but needs tidying or buy a zunsport black alloy grille or keep the original headlights or swap for morrettes

so been toying on what changes to make with the 180 in terms of the front lighting, feel with the wheels being black and the front badge being sprayed black in 2 wks the car may look out of place keeping the original headlights so toying with the below idea or morettes

Dan I think I just typed in 206 gti 180 or it may have been from a member off here

Jamie, your right the bra is for a purpose but I have no intention of fitting it to my 180 Wink

front lights are staying original now Laughing was getting petrol this morning and was staring at the car while waiting to pay and couldn't stop smiling at the look Laughing just got to decide whether to replace the black sp grille with a stainless steel grille or get the zunsport black front grille

Hopefully will be getting some seat covers for xmas and a janspeed system after xmas Razz

i found when i fitted the rear ones it was easier to take the wheels off to drill the holes just to make sure i got them nice and straight Smile fronts are easier just turn the wheels full lock lol

gave the 180 a well deserved clean this morning, this gave me an opportunity to fit my side repeaters and my info sticker, was going to fit my new rear lights but had to leave the nuts with a bit of wd40 as they are really tight and I forgot there's not much room for large hands lol also debadged the tailgate of the lion badge and personally I like it alot more!!

As the car stands at the mo;

new side repeaters, crystal black

info sticker and tax disc holder (already on car when purchased)

I have no idea what the green hexagon sticker means so if anyone does know i would be interested to find out please.

I also got a set of richbrook seat covers from my nan, people will hate them but I really wanted them to protect the leather and alcantara

I was hoping to get my janspeed this wknd too but due to tax end of the month it will have to wait until next payday, in the mean time I aim to fit my alpine hu with stalk adaptor, fit my rear lights and peugeot oem rear mudflaps

had planned on this wknd doing more to the 180 by fitting my smoked crystal rear lights only to find that they arrived without any bulbs, so now I got to order some before they can go on Crying or Very sad

also painting the upper sp grilles using smooth black hammerite spray, touch wood they'll turn out ok, if not they'll just go to the bodyshop to be sprayed

Might possibly have a janspeed in under 2 wks, chap who bought luke saunders' old system is selling up so couldn't really say no when he offered it to me Very Happy and can finally be rid of the horrible banging noise the back box makes

So if he doesn't it might not be till the summer time. I've told him about this site however its most likely he will just tell me to post it up for him so I'll keep you in the loop mate Smile

spent a few hours this afternoon spraying the upper sp grilles in hammerite smooth black, they don't look too bad tbh and will be fitting them tomorrow once fully dry

went to fit my rear lights to be confronted with a dilemma, they bloody didn't come with any bulbs

I can't be arsed to remove the bulbs from my ph2 lights, was going to order some silvatec or rainbow indicator bulbs anyway

Will those grills not just chip up as soon as a stone hits it and start looking pap?

Personally I hate fake carbon wrap but I guess it's a cheap alternative. I'd consider carbon dipping after what Luke showed me the other day.

Nice lights though and the car looks good overall Matt.

It might happen but I doubt it'll be noticeable.

It was only £10 for complete ashtray inc delivery so was a bargain but i think i might have to have a chat with luke ref carbon dipping.

the sooner i can get the lights on the better Smile

Just realised they are the upper sp grilles that are hidden lol

The video I saw on CF dipping makes it look real. If it's as good as it looks in the videos and is a fair bit cheaper than real CF I'd go for it.

I'm a fan of stock lights but those aftermarkets are ones I'd buy :).

White Team D's wouldn't go with the theme imo.

It would look nice but... all the black and then white wheels?

I'm opting for either black or anthracite team d's next time if I cba. I think that would be more appropriate for your look but it's only my opinion it's your car :).

It would but then Uz has got the above wheels in gloss black and I wouldn't want the same because then our cars would like identical, these however might look alright in gloss black

I think the black team d's would suit yours Jamie, another guy called James had the same on his agean 180 and looked really smart

For those who may have seen my thread in free chat, I came back to the car after work last week to find the passenger mirror partially separated from its base Sad , the mirrors had been folded in so obviously a s**t driver not concentrating on what he/she was doing, even worse is that they never left a note (they wouldn't anyway) and there is no cctv in the car park.

the damage at first glimpse

I was able to t-cut these out but there are still some marks that couldn't be removed, then decided to wash the car this afternoon and noticed once it was dried there is a vertical crease in the passenger door about 6" long, so along with the bonnet, drivers side I now need to have the passenger side resprayed, so much for a clean 180 lol

www.edgeautomotive.co.uk/?s=206+

they did this one on my last 206 and wish I never left it on the car when I sold it

wanting to get the roof lining, sun visors and c-pillars done too so will be popping up to a local company to get some prices although they've already said that the cost of the alcantara is £50 a metre Sad

The material used is the same stuff as the interior, but due to the age of the seats and the age of the pillar covers, the colour will look different due to the fading (seats).

Matt talk to me if you want your C-Pillars and rooflining done... I've done my C-Pillars and to say that they are a pain in the dairy air to do is an understatement. £50 a metre for alcantara is cheap. The going rate is usually between £75-90. But you only need a metre to do both c-pillars.

Well I guess you can't really call it an update but while the car was in having it's rear pads fitted I used my bro's 180 to check the size of the alloy wheel bolts.

Having done that I ordered a set of black wheel nut covers and decided today to fit them, hit a problem right away, they were too small Wall Bang

got the wheel brace and checked it, thought it was really weird because even the 21mm wasn't big enough, just on the off chance I used the tweezers and found that the previous owner off here had fitted chrome wheel nut covers, having realised that they were all replaced.

Also managed to remove the bolts for the old factory car mats so now the new mats when I get them will sit flat.

Should have my sp arche sprayed in 3 weeks then once the bonnet and wings are sprayed they'll be fitted

Well now that my brother is married I have a bit more money for the 180 this month, first time in ages Laughing

so thought I'd start with getting the sp arches sent to the bodyshop to be sprayed, hoping to get these back soon so they can be on the car asap

Also started to upgrade the speakers too, have decided to go for a Focal set up so over the wknd bought a set of Focal PC130 5.25" coaxial speakers, when fitted the speaker wire will also be upgraded and the rear quarter panels sound deadened.

Rather thans spending loads on delocking the doors I came across these lock covers which are made in a quality metal and professionally sprayed in obsidian black which just stick onto the original lock, at only £11 per door I thought i'd buy 1 for the passenger door and see what it's like, will post pics up when it is fitted

Still need to finish off my ipod dock and paint the calipers red, hopefully if there is a dry day

Cars looking great Matt,

I'm usually funny about fake carbon but dipping really has altered my opinion! How much do they charge at garnish to coat stuff because if it isn't killer I'd get my mirror caps done ect lol.

Cheers Jamie, the carbon dipping wasn't too bad, the vents and the grab handles were about £65 delivered, but I bought the parts off ebay rather than having the 180's covered. I was going for carbon wrap but wanted to try this dipping and preferred it more. Once the centre console is done that'll be the interior parts done. Try kam racing bud, they got a set of proper carbon fibre mirror caps for probably the same price to be dipped

haha very true, would have to ensure they lacquer the morette cases really well as I noticed with my interior parts they do scratch quite easily

well it's come to that time where the 180 has had another biggish update, have finally fitted the sp arches, reckon the wings have been rolled or something because they were a right pain in the a**e to fit!! Wall Bang

gave her a quick clean and took a few quick pics so apologies for the poor quality/light of them

Next up is the roof rails colour coded and the engine cover sprayed flamenco red

Thanks mate, I had been contemplating tx 1.2's in gloss red, either that or speedline turini's i believe in anthracite

Turinis all day long in anthracite although team d's are lighter from memory but then again I hate bright wheels unless it's factory *excluding white*

I'm thinking of going gold on some brembos when I get them on aftermarket or big brake upgrades I think colour looks good, just unsure on wheels, then again it could look pretty sick with gloss red!

Someone I used to talk to on Saxperience had a 182 with gloss red alloys it looked great but the ltd RS Meganes came with red so it seemed alright lol

With xmas over with and not getting anything for the 180 I thought, right next payday i'll treat her to some parts, nothing major but all necessary Laughing

black interior grab handles

red sfs reducer hose ready for the k&n typhoon kit

peugeot sport resin badge for the engine cover once i've decided as to which colour to spray it in, flamenco red or obsidian black

hoping before FCS to have the k&n and custom battery box from my brother's 180 sprayed and fitted since he's looking to sell his by March.

Other plans included having the front end of the car resprayed but thinking it's quite early in the year for this year so may concentrate on getting the front components and sub to complete the install

Been wanting to see what the front end would look like with a set of morettes, so put in an offer for these morettes last night and woke this morning to an email saying it'd been accepted Very Happy they look in excellent condition and are already sprayed in the same colour as the 180, bonus!!

Only issue I might have is i'm not sure if the h4-h7 adaptors are already fitted and looking at the pics of behind the morettes, the mounting brackets are the same like in the last pic.

They may not stay if I prefer the masked lights over the morettes so will keep everyone posted

small update on project stealth as i'm calling it Laughing over last wknd I was able to have a proper look at the morettes and remove the wiring that was cut by the seller, casings will need completely respraying, needs new connectors for the earth/fuse wires and going to replace the screws which secure the casings to the main units (don't like the rusty one's) also got a new set of h7/h1 osram unlimited bulbs and silvatec indicator bulbs ready to go in Smile

Also hoping to send my spare speedo cover to Edge Automotive for some black alcantara treatment and contrasting red stitching very soon and my kind brother is getting my engine cover sprayed for my birthday Very Happy well once i've chosen a colour Laughing

lol guessed it might have been Smile

If you can afford the 180 I def recommend one, I had a normal gti before the 180 and really wanted a black one and was luckily enough to buy mine already lowered and with black wheels. Alot of the stuff on the car is secondhand or cheap off ebay, the only thing I have to pay full price for because there rarely on ebay is k&n typhoon induction kit.

Haha that's ok, it's just good to give other people ideas for their own cars, you should join us at French car show this year and have a look at it in person, probably going to be a few guys driving down from the midlands etc

But the insurance is quite good on the xsi I bet, probably won't be much of a change on the 180 being a woman driver, probably cheaper than mine Laughing

I do like the masked look, had it on my previous as well but a mate of mine had a black 180 with morettes and it looked really nice so hopefully tomorrow you might see the car with my morettes finally on Wink

I think you should Wink it will be an awesome wknd and if you get bored looking at all the cars you can chill out watching the cars go round the track, think this year they got 2 cars where you can be passenger in, it's only £40 for the whole wknd camping or last year I paid £15 plus hotel for the friday night and saturday day

Turned out there were a few things missing on the passenger light, needed to fit a fuse on the wire going to the fuse box which also need a lug fitted so good job Matt brought his spare morette Laughing then we spent ages trying to figure out why the lights weren't working, to find out the car gone into limp mode, DOH!!!

Thanks mate, on the honeycombe front grille there's 2 metal strips, 1 either side of the front plate, these can be removed and easily painted, certainly breaks up the black

Cant count the times that a job that should take 10 mins turns into a whole day affair, the worst of which was fitting coilovers, took us 10 hours and had to buy a new driveshaft. But electrical problems are up there with my most hated jobs.

Looks smart mate! Although i went off the idea of morettes in general i do think a clean black 206 pulls them off.

On the standard honeycomb grille there are two chrome strips along the bottom, these can be popped out and painted Smile

Didnt realise Matt had replied already haha

Is the honeycomb grille specific to the 180, not too clued up on 206's yet

No, unless you have the sp alloy grille, honeycombe grilles are standard items

Have made the decision not to continue with this project other than a few exterior cosmetics (bonnet, roof strips sprayed) as i've decided I want to save for an S3 8L

This is my 4th french car and think it's time to try something different and with alot more power as Clarkson would put it, I love this car to bits and will carry on enjoying driving her until the S3 is on the drive, you never know I may change my mind at a later date and finish the 180 but that's the way I am Laughing

You can't beat a bit of German power, the s3's a stunning little motor to drive. I always preferred my b6 a4 quattro more. The s3 doesn'thave the proper quattro system unlike the a4, it's still a grippy little f****r though Smile

I've never driven any other car other than french so would be nice to see the difference although my mate is trying to convince to go for an S4 saloon

A4 is the better of the 2 in my opinion, more room, comfier, better grip and just felt more planted. My last car was an a4 1.8t quattro and with a bit of tweaking was running s3 power and easily capable of more.

Boring.

Audi's don't do it for me my dad has a q7 it's a nice beast but yawwwwwwwwwwn. Same with my uncles a5 or whatever it is, clinical boring souless machines.

And they do go wrong but when they do 'Surprise' is screamed as they enter you. lol.

I'd have an RS3 the awd one or TTRS just because they're probably unstoppable in all conditions.

Needs ITBS Wink

I've never tried Audi's etc, all i've owned since I past my test was mk2 fiesta, 2 saxo's and 2 206's and think it's time to try something new, the only other car I would like to own if not an S3 is an EP3 or a DC2

Hmm

Ep3 is abit sideways, awesome cars but performance isn't far different from a 180. The S3's are nice don't get me wrong but for that sort of money I'd really explore all the alternatives it's a buyers market so you could get some decent shizzle!

A big dozy 4x4 is gonna be a bit yawn regardless of who made it, unless it's bowler of coarse. Can't say iv ever been in an a5 but the s3 beats the 180 in ALL respects rain or shine.

That's not the point though. They are all so bland. Interior ect.. bar the TT which I actually like. The BOSE systems... now they are good.

I didn't say the 180 is quicker? it's not about that, To me it's more exciting to look at, more of a project car to tinker with because it's cheap. Usually when you mod cars it generally ends up ruining them OR making them worth less. I wouldn't spend a shed load on a car like that and ruin it with mods but then I'd get bored.

Focus ST
Gashtra Vixer
Focus RS
Megane RS
ect

Cars that are good to mod, and as they're cheap and mostly looked as adult kid cars almost expected to have daft wheels and stupidly loud exhausts. The Audi, is an expensive up market car in comparison even if it is a hatch.

That's my opinion on them anyway. I think that people who mod those cars unless young and got pennies or got them cheap because they're getting on abit just look like hey I'm in the middle of a mid life crysis.

If bought and kept stock they're respectable and quick. Start painting badges and crap like that and imo you'll look a t**t.

I never mentioned anything about being quicker or painting badges, in fact I completely agree in that respect. German cars have a habit of looking tacky with very little effort but surely that means the designers got it right to begin with. Iv driven both and personal experience the s3 was far more fun, even more so in the wet. Its lighter with better brakes, better suspension, a better chassis and to top it off its part time 4 wheel drive. The 1.8t engine used in vag cars is probably one of the most tunable engines about and it doesn't have to cost a fortune either.

The cars you've listed are all great I'm sure but they're 3 times the price of a reasonable 8l s3.

you say bland, I say refined, surely how a car looks is down to personal taste anyway.

Wait oh god no.

I thought we were talking the newer S3 HAHAHA

They haven't aged well at all imo. I'd definitely sooner have a 180 than the old S3. They actually look OLD. + for a decent unmolested low ish milleage example you can buy far newer cars.

I thought we were talking about the newer ones sorry, that's why I said I wouldn't mod one ect. The old ones been done to death like every other car with the vag 1.8t's it's cheap so you can throw all your tacky out of the bumper ic pipes over that lol.

I'd sooner go sideways to an Ep3.

Haha no worries chaps, been taking in all the above and I prefer the newer S3 to the old S3 but is out of my price range as are any vxr, focus rs etc, I should just face the fact that I love my 180, it's very stylish and cheap to run on parts etc

So Wednesday I was having a bad day and decided that I wouldn't carry on with the 180 and start saving for a replacement, well after alot of thinking and chill time (blast on the motorway Razz ) I realised that the cars I would consider buying, focus rs mk1, 8P S3 and others were out of my price range not to mention parts will probably be more expensive than for the pug.

So to celebrate, I've given the go ahead for my centre console to be hyrdodipped by GarnishDip which will finish off the cf look interior Very Happy

Focus RS mk1 is a total different ball game to an S3. Now that, that is worth while!

Glad you're keeping the 180 going! it looks lovely, I keep wishing mine was black the shine from a black car after a detail, I'd love it haha. My old Fiesta ZS shined like a beau might dig out some pics haha.

I would love a mk1 focus rs if I could afford it, even though they are quite a few years old, the styling is awesome and even a standard focus is nice to drive

Black is such a lovely colour mate, there's so much shine when it's clean and that's even before a polish, just as well I have a basic camera because you'd see the swirls else Laughing although I may invest in a dual action polisher at a later date

I want cams but I won't shell out anytime soon on that, so when my decats actually on I'll just have it mapped and if I get it cammed one day I'll just have to have another map for it.

Map is definitely worth doing btw, I had a generic Angel tuning map slightly tinkered for my Scorpion decat back & simota before and that car moved!

There's a company based near me called MB Motorsport who specialise in TVR's etc www.mbmotor-sport.com/ so will get them to do it, places like RSTuning and Pug1off are too far just for a remap unless they did other engine work at the same time, at the minute I need to change my factory induction before getting a remap, may get the clutch changed too as i'm not sure this was done and even after 16months of ownership still find the clutch uncomfortable

As of 1pm today I have joined team typhoon due to someone not sending payment for kit on ebay.

However, the pipe is in blue so needs to be changed but I am in 2 minds as to get it powdercoated gloss black and fit a purple sfs reducer hose OR spray the pipe in the same purple pictured above which the engine cover is being done in and keep the original k&n hose

Do it gloss black with purple hoses for sure. I'd also put a K+N sticker on the pipe somewhere I think :).

I'm having my pipes & new coloured hoses done at some point soon. :).

Got sooo much to do for show season if I go, I really don't know if I can be asked with FCS though I know I'm going to be disappointed.

I'm not selling mine, eventually I wan't to wene it off as a daily and turn it in to a track toy as I've always wanted to track but kept my paint too well to risk it. When I get it low goodbye rear interior again.

You need to get shot of that red pinstripe on your grill now dude Smile

What what pay in 14 days? No f*****g way ah man! I may start bidding stuff lol.

Also what is PAD?

Zunsports are the least of my worries atm! got too much crap sitting in my front room and I'm getting moaned at lol. Luckily now I have white wheels the stainless sp stuff don't look so out of place.

I desperately want my decat and brakes & mounts & lows done but can't really be asked at the minute, even if I have just got my new shoes lol

I hope to attend Pugfest whenever that is, still unsure on FCS.

will still be fitting it before the replacement hose arrives Smile

hopefully on my week off next week I will be getting the engine cover sprayed in the cadbury's purple and ordering the black zunsport grilles Smile

There are many pictures of the car with sp arches on, noticed the rear passengers had fallen off whilst driving but at the time thought it was a pothole i'd driven over causing the noise sat night lol

I assume you mean the hydro dipping? The company I used are called Garnish based in Exeter and mainly despatch dipped items rather than collecting in person, there is a guy on fb under "Gti 180 owners" page called Ben who does hydro dipping who's more centrally based in the uk

Cheers mate, just had to give her a wash and polish the wings where the sp arches were Sad but tbh and you'll probably agree when you see pics later, the car looks better without them

my decat arrived yesterday Very Happy going to be a few weeks before it's fitted though as going to buy some lambda sleeves for it first

Just google hydro dipping and see where the closest one to you is, I bought parts off ebay and had them sent directly to the place who dipped mine and they sent them back to me Smile

So Saturday saw the car at Castle Combe for PAD,

it was here I realised I need to get the sp arches back on so as soon as I got home I set about ordering a new arch, unfortunately it's completely the wrong colour Sad on a plus note, have ordered the lambda sleeve needed to get my decat on the car Very Happy

also just ordered 8 of these which will replace the m6 bolts used on the wings, headlights and front grille :halo:

Well show season is here so only right I treat the car to some more goodies Very Happy

Decided the honeycombe grille with red inserts is boring me now Laughing so luckily luke saunders was selling his black zunsport grille set, bonnet vent and bumper grille and standard sp midde grilles

had a 207 sp badge in my car box and since the zunsport badge is welded on decided to fit it underneath, not too sure on it tbh, just wish i could remove the zunsport one without ruining the paintwork

since the weather is so nice I thought i'd take advantage of the sun and start spraying the middle sp grilles in smooth black hammerite, after the 1st coat, will finish off tomorrow hopefully

As soon as the main zunsport bumper grille is fitted, the honeycombe will be up for sale, also hoping to get the decat on this week Very Happy

Take the SP badge off!

Number one it's bent Razz

2... way too much, keep the Zunsport or cut the zunsport out and fix the SP badge in place some way!

Looks good though Matty, engine bay bolts look nice that's on my list of to do's shame swampy off Saxp turns out to be a scammer (even though I had no issues previously) or I'd get some more bolts from him, where you get those ones dude?

Also, the lambada sleeve, is that the one you pm'd me? just gna make sure before I order it Smile also, while I'm on the talk of the decat are you planning on fitting this yourself or taking it somewhere? wondering because it doesn't look like it will fit nicely from what I saw when taking a butchers yesterday. Beer could have confused my brain tho...

SP badge already removed mate Wink

keeping the zunsport as it is as it does look quite subtle

The bolts look awesome when fitted mate, so glad you talked me into going purple but these have a flip type look Very Happy they were however expensive, cost me £57 for just 8 bolts Laughing

the lambda sensor unfortunately doesn't say what size hole to drill so i just drilled a small hole then screwede it into the pipe, going to get a garage to fit it as i don't trust my skills Laughing plan to book it in next friday morning Very Happy

Glad you got shot of that SP badge, one or one or t'other really haha.

8 bolts for 57 quid wwwwwwhat would have been cheaper to anodise them yourself in VHT purple, (not as nice a colour mind).

Is it the sensor you pm'd me that you bought?

By far this has to be my favourite mod on the car Very Happy it brings such a smile to my face when I put my foot down Laughing

yesterday car went in the garage to have the decat pipe fitted, had bought a lambda sleeve from Kam Racing but turns out it couldn't be fitted due to clearance issues, have driven 63 miles since it was fitted and feels so much better and more responsive and more importantly i've not had any warning lights come one, bonus Very Happy !!

www.youtube.com/edit?o...aRDRhRYUi0

Have also had the engine cover and washer cap sprayed in what was meant to be cadbury's purple but looks completely different Laughing but still looks nice, will get pics of this up this week.

As she stands at the mo from todays car show in Devon

Well since the last car show the pug attended she has had yet more changes made

The honeycombe grille has been removed and a zunsport black alloy grille fitted, the pics were taken at FCS and show off the engine bay with it's new bling bling Laughing

Some people might hate them but I quite like them, especially in purple Wink

New front sticker, in purple of course Laughing

Caught the "i" on the Gti180 badge so had to remove it all together, looks alright tbh

Few random pics of the pug on the drive to FCS and at the show itself Very Happy

Since coming back from FCS i've decided to go black led's on the rear and to start saving for a respray, coilovers and a new set of wheels all for FCS 2015 Very Happy

Going to be nosy and ask what are you using to secure the box in the boot? Looks like velcro straps?
Been looking for something to secure a slightly bigger bag/box for some essentials and quick detailing stuff.

No not velcro, these are proper straps which were standard with the car and are riveted to the boot wall

Don't forget that even without rear seats your car is still registered as a 4-seater - so your insurance company will need to know. Your car could fail the MOT without rear seats too. Just a warning!

Thanks mate, will bare that in mind, just renewed my insurance literally and mot is due in march but i been using the same garage for the last 7yrs so they might be ok with it but will double check and if needs be the rear seats will go back in and an awesome install will be made

Just spoke to the garage, they've said that if there's nothing fitted to do with the rear seats, i.e. the seats, seatbelts and the seatbelt buckles then it won't fail the mot

My GTi 138 failed the MOT because it had 180 seats (4-seater) but was registered as a 5-seater on the V5C.
Maybe the tester was just envious Laughing

If your referring to the circular black trim just behind the drivers seat, that's the fuel pump mate.

Unfortunately i'm still waiting on the rear cage so while i'm waiting i decided to remove the rear seat belts but can't get the belt buckles out at the mo

In the meantime i made a few new purchases for the car Very Happy

got these off ebay but on the downside they have to stuck to the wing mirrors rather than being clipped on like the factory units

whilst browsing ebay for geaknobs I came across this beauty, managed to get the original gear knob off quite easily but the new unit was a pain Laughing all 3 adaptors that came with it were either too small or too big but only by a mm or 2 so had to file the inside of one of them to get it to fit Mad

Now that a date has been confirmed for FCS 2015 the race is on to get the rest of the car upto scratch inc wheel refurb and several panels being resprayed and maybe a few secret touches Wink

Well got a few more goodies for the 180 Very Happy

Got myself an omp strutbrace which is currently being in sprayed in cadbury's purple

a 280mm momo team steering wheel with a soon to be carbon fibre centre horn button

The rear roll cage, this is only an image of what it looks like, however mine will hopefully be powdercoated in a purple similar to cadburys purple

Cheers bud, tbh i'm not sure if it will be in, may have to cut the rear door cards which I'm against so could be selling the current cage and on the lookout for a dimma show cage instead

Would be a shame to sell the cage! Could always source some spare r/door cards instead of butchering your own?
Although I guess if it's just the look your after then the show cage would mean less fab work in the long run.

I could but don't really want to spend money on items to replace the same as i've already got, will see what happens, if it comes to selling the cage I should get £300 for it which I can put towards something else for the car, already got a front end respray, wheel refurb and remap on the cards before FCS

also done more to the soundproofing, still needs alot to be done

Was well happy with the results and proves it is possible to hit high figures but am tempted to try another roller to see if it is correct

In preperation for this years show season I decided that the car was in need of a new set of shoes, luckily a mate of mine had a set I was looking at and even better, he decided he didn't want them on his 206, so £300 later and I got myself a set of second-hand 207 Gti pitlane alloys, the only issue I did have, was the tyres were the wrong offset, so another £240 later and they were wrapped in fresh rubber.

So after a week of sitting in the car and having the wknd off I did plan on fitting them, however, the weather had other ideas, luckily there was a break in the weather and I thought sod it, the rear 2 wheels weren't too bad to undo the bolts but the front's were a b***h, not only did I have to drive onto some planks of wood to get enough clearance for the jack (seriously didn't think it was that low Laughing ), I had to use the pole from an old patio umbrella to get some extra leverage.

Now debating if the car actually needs the sp arches or not, still got some ap coilovers to fit so we shall have to wait and see Wink
