#286: Re: MattyP's 180 Project - Update pg19 no rear seats Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:30 am ---- Unfortunately i'm still waiting on the rear cage so while i'm waiting i decided to remove the rear seat belts but can't get the belt buckles out at the mo
In the meantime i made a few new purchases for the car
got these off ebay but on the downside they have to stuck to the wing mirrors rather than being clipped on like the factory units
whilst browsing ebay for geaknobs I came across this beauty, managed to get the original gear knob off quite easily but the new unit was a pain all 3 adaptors that came with it were either too small or too big but only by a mm or 2 so had to file the inside of one of them to get it to fit
Now that a date has been confirmed for FCS 2015 the race is on to get the rest of the car upto scratch inc wheel refurb and several panels being resprayed and maybe a few secret touches
#287: Re: MattyP's 180 Project - Updated 05/11 page 20 Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Sat Jan 17, 2015 4:43 pm ---- Well got a few more goodies for the 180
Got myself an omp strutbrace which is currently being in sprayed in cadbury's purple
a 280mm momo team steering wheel with a soon to be carbon fibre centre horn button
The rear roll cage, this is only an image of what it looks like, however mine will hopefully be powdercoated in a purple similar to cadburys purple

Cheers bud, tbh i'm not sure if it will be in, may have to cut the rear door cards which I'm against so could be selling the current cage and on the lookout for a dimma show cage instead

Would be a shame to sell the cage! Could always source some spare r/door cards instead of butchering your own?
Although I guess if it's just the look your after then the show cage would mean less fab work in the long run.

I could but don't really want to spend money on items to replace the same as i've already got, will see what happens, if it comes to selling the cage I should get £300 for it which I can put towards something else for the car, already got a front end respray, wheel refurb and remap on the cards before FCS

Can completely understand that to be honest, well whatever you plan I'm sure it'll look good as it always does! Look forward to seeing your progress at FCS.

#294: Re: MattyP's 180 Project - More interior work done Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Fri Feb 20, 2015 8:44 am ---- Got round to doing some more work on the interior this morning, now instead of spending loads of money and getting the side panels trimmed in black to match the carpet that will be fitted, I spent £9 on some fabric paint
before
after
also done more to the soundproofing, still needs alot to be done
still to fit is the momo team 280mm steering wheel and some tarox sport japan brake discs

Well since the last car show the pug attended she has had yet more changes made
The honeycombe grille has been removed and a zunsport black alloy grille fitted, the pics were taken at FCS and show off the engine bay with it's new bling bling
Some people might hate them but I quite like them, especially in purple
New front sticker, in purple of course
Caught the "i" on the Gti180 badge so had to remove it all together, looks alright tbh
Few random pics of the pug on the drive to FCS and at the show itself
Since coming back from FCS i've decided to go black led's on the rear and to start saving for a respray, coilovers and a new set of wheels all for FCS 2015
What rear lights are those and do you have a link where you purchased them?
#296: Re: MattyP's 180 Project - More interior work done Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Thu Feb 26, 2015 12:46 pm ---- I got the lights from FK Automotive, think there called smoked m3 style
#297: Re: MattyP's 180 Project - More interior work done Author: MattyP, Location: PlymouthPosted: Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:59 am ---- Yesterday saw myself and a few others put their cars on the rollers, in all there 3 Gti 180's including mine a few clio sport 172/182's, my brothers Focus ST 225 and a Ford Mustang V8 engined MG ZTT with supercharger
Was well happy with the results and proves it is possible to hit high figures but am tempted to try another roller to see if it is correct
