#1: GTI & GTi 180 gear knobs any difference ? Author: bisphenol-a, Location: AntarcticaPosted: Wed Nov 21, 2012 9:26 am ---- i just grabbed a gti gear knob on ebay brand new and all but when i removed my old gear knob on my 180 i found that there is a distinctive difference in weight. my new knob is heavier than the current knob which still have its sleeve still stuck inside. i am still trying to get that out but anyhow.
i looked for markings and there were some differences but nothing much i think. i am just puzzled by the significant difference in weight. ebayer said its genuine and the font on the chrome head is exactly identical to my current knob. in fact it is so similar you got to hold them to feel the difference between the 2. fake? replica? 3rd party manufacturer? genuine but different batch?
[psst]how do you remove the sleeve that is inside the old knobby?

This is especially try of the 206, which at various times was built in no fewer than nine different plants in eight separate countries!
So the gearknob is most probably genuine.
