#1: My lion has a drinking problem Author: nplima, Location: NW London, UKPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 2:14 pm ---- Hi all,
Just last week I was so happy to join this club and now I am thinking of returning my 2004 Peugeot 206S 1.4 to the dealer.
I have driven this car for just 80 miles, about 50% city and even considering the recent cold weather I am finding it hard to believe that 24.6 miles to the gallon (11.6l for 100Km) is within reason for a car that is working correctly.
I am comparing my fuel figures with those of other owners who have published them in Fuelly.com and I am astounded.
Any views on what can cause this kind of fuel consumption? The same driving style was resulting in more than 40mpg from a 2001 Ford Ka 1.3.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Nplima

#4: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: 20Drift, Posted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:00 pm ---- My old 1.4 did about 38mpg if I drove it carefully. Might be worth getting the car checked out.
#5: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: kippo2012, Location: DevonPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:26 pm ---- I'm getting between about 20 to 25mpg out of my 1.4... Probably down to the fact I have the most uneconomical drive to work known to man kind. Last edited by kippo2012 on Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:28 pm; edited 1 time in total

Do you try and be economical when driving, like rolling up to a stop in gear, using the car's momentum etc?

Yeah, I do try and be economical, but I only have a 4 mile drive to work which is little country lanes uphill, downhill, uphill, downhill etc etc, on a cold engine.. Never get higher than 4th gear, if I'm lucky.

That sucks. You go F1 style and pump warm oil into the car before starting it, or get a more economical diesel
#10: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: kippo2012, Location: DevonPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 3:48 pm ---- Haha, I did have more economical diesel. Until it got written off thanks to a woman driver... A blonde one. Typical.
#11: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 4:33 pm ---- When was the car last serviced? Change oil, filters and spark plugs and put a bit of injector cleaner treatment in the fuel tank.
I get between 30-35mpg when doing 100% town driving
#12: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: jayz206gti, Location: TamworthPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 5:15 pm ---- Average 30 mpg in my 180. Id say £10 would get me 50-60 miles
#13: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: Ciucur, Location: NorthamptonPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 5:15 pm ---- I get around 50-55 miles for a tenner, normal in town driving and when I say normal meaning occasionally reving up to 3000-3200 RPM before shifting.
#14: Re: My lion has a drinking problem Author: pugcruiser, Location: bournemouthPosted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 5:44 pm ---- i get around 50 miles per quater of a tank all depends on driving style too sometimes i race it round but most of the time is sensible driving thats from a 1.6 xs
