ABS Light on After New Disc's and Pads

Evening,

I changed my front discs and pads yesterday as the old ones were knackered. All went well, jumped in the car, turned it on, pumped the brakes and everything was fine. Drove out of my drive and the ABS FAULT appeared and flashed on the dash.

Any idea what it could be, i didn't hit any of the sensors when smashing the old disc off, i took them off today and they look fine. One thing i did notice though was the ring of teeth on the drive shaft, well there a split between the teeth of about 2-3mm.

Would me changing the pads have affected the rear drums in any way.

Will i need to have the fault code removed via Peugeot.

Thanks for your help.

A split as in the ring being cracked? As if the teeth are not spaced at the ecu expects it will flag up a fault.

Exactly. All the teeth and equal distance apart except for 2 of them that have a 2-3 mm wider spacing where the ring has cracked.

I was wondering if that would have caused it but was a little unsure.

Yeh that would be the most obvious, if you can get the codes read it should also confirm this, then of course you can get it replaced and the fault codes cleared and you should be alright.

cost me a fortune to get the code's read as its Diesel (52) so not OBDII.

Will i need the fault cleared or will changing the driveshaft clear the fault as its not an emissions fault.

Depends on where you go, try your local friendly garage to see if they will read it and then clear for you if need after. Shouldnt cost too much, we only charge £27.99 + vat for diagnostics for instance.

Not done one on a 206 before but often once the fault is flagged up, it wont dissapear untill the fault is fixed and then the codes cleared, although some do go out after you go above 30mph.

For some reason i think you can only get codes deleted a max of either 7 or 10 times on a 206. God knows i think that though. I'm not far off either lol.

I think its 50 if my memory serves me right, so you should be alright, if you get them to read it just to confirm it is that ring thats causing the problem just get them to leave the light on till you fix it so it saves a one of those 50 times.

it's better to have it checked to see exactly what made the ABS light come on,instead of guessing,it will tell you which wheel, and which side 100%,so that you don't waste your time Very Happy
