I think E5s first option might be the easier solution to turn it off.

It's basically dealer spec software. You can do code reading inc airbags, reset the ECUs, activate/deactivate functions in the BSI, code keys and if you have the genuine software and not the clone, you can update the BSI plus loads of other things the dealer charges a fortune for.

The software is free if you know where to look. It's the cable that usually costs. Search for Peugeot Planet 2000 or Lexia. Both are the same cable. The Lexia is Citroens version of the software.

No it's not, PP even works on the 205
Just a different connector, a 30 pin one instead of the OBD style one.
The earlier Peugeots can also have faults diagnosed using a test lamp and the self diagnoses plug located under the bonnet.
