#16: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 2:22 am ---- Sorry guys its a x reg 1.4lx petrol every thing else works fine it just the mileage you can not see at all I bought the car like this the other day it is standard car and nothing has been done to it and no one has touched the car to check why they arnt working hope this is a bit better for you
#17: Re: mileometer Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 12:15 pm ---- The mileage MAY be stored in the ECU rather than within the dash panel. If that is the case a dash change from a scrapper would fix it. Any one confirm?
The other option, LCD readout change, may be possible and I think there are a few threads on here about that but I don't recall seeing a succesful one.
#18: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 12:37 pm ---- some one else said probably have to end up changing the dash so probs just end up doing that
#19: Re: mileometer Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 12:45 pm ---- Will changing the dash change the recorded mileage or is that stored in the ECU?

If i remember correctly you need to get one of a car with lower millage than yours at the time of swapping.
#21: Re: mileometer Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 12:57 pm ---- It's a pre-plex so the new mileage will be what's stored in the memory on the cluster. You don't want to get one with too much difference as the mileage is recorded on the MOT and if you get a one that reads less miles than the previous MOT, you may be asked some awkward questions if you come to sell the vehicle on.
#22: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 1:08 pm ---- cheers for that onfo mate thank you
#23: Re: mileometer Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 2:33 pm ---- Or officially inform the DVLA and they will record that change. Future buyers do get suspicious of things like that though.
#24: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 3:31 pm ---- Any one got a pic off what dials should be in x reg 1.4 lx as mine and my mates are totally different so I thinking they have been changed for maybe newer ones that why they at not working any pics would be great
#25: Re: mileometer Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 3:38 pm ---- 1.4LX is speedo, temp and fuel gauge only IIRC. Too lazy to walk out and have a look at my daughters car. If you have a rev counter then it is the wrong cluster.
#26: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:24 pm ---- Yes mine as got a rev counter so does this mean I carnt have a rev counter and mileage
#27: Re: mileometer Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:38 pm ---- Does the rev counter work?
#28: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:42 pm ---- Every thing mate except the mileage
#29: Re: mileometer Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:42 pm ---- I am wrong. My daughters car has a rev counter, speedo, fuel level and temp sensor. I was getting quite confused about dash panels and was thinking of my son's long gone Corsa.
Also I am no longer sure that the speedo is cable drive as that was also my son's old car.
I will do some checking and put the right info here bed soon as up at 05:15 tomorrow.
Deepest apologies.
#30: Re: mileometer Author: Rob206, Posted: Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:44 pm ---- Haha it's okay mate thank you for trying rather u than me getting up at that time I'm not up till 7:30 lol
