I cant remember where, but to can go to ECU and select your ECU manually. Have you done that? I had to do it on mine.

Is this the ecu that came with the car? Or have you changed the seats, what is the history of the car has it had an accident? I am asking just in case or mainly because I cannot be assed to read the other threads Razz iirc if the ECU has side air bags turned on you need to plug them in! It cannot be recoded or turned off. Same with deployment once it has fired airbags it is useless. Sounds like a dodgy repair or the original seats have been replaced.

the airbag ecu is a replacement as the original became faulty (airbag light was flashing + a solid side airbag light) the flashing light has now gone but still have the solid one.. the car has the original seats and do not have airbags, there are 2 airbag driver and passenger, 2 seat belt pretension which I have replace today,

I cant get the ecu to respond to turn off this light, (turn off the side airbag option)

can't you just remove the bulb if that's all you want to do?

If normal operation of the seat airbag system is that the bulb lights on first turnning the key and then extinguishes after a few seconds a sharp eyed MOT tester will fail the car.

Inoperative or iluminated warning lights (air bags, seat belts, ABS etc.) is now an MOT failure.

Well that is my understanding. It could be just illuminated ones.

Where did the replacement come from? Sounds like the wrong one has been fitted needs to be the type without side air bags.

You do realise that is just because a bulb is in there when it shouldnt be?

Take the bulb out and forget

Not sure if it's a bulb .. often the safety lights are LED's mounted to the circuit board so it can't be removed ... for obvious reasons.

i vote for taking the bulb out, if you dont have side airbags then i cant see there being a problem even with the MOT

Nice thread revival Addaz.
Hopefully the OP has got this sorted in the last 9 months, although it would be nice to know what the final solution was.

sorry for late reply on this issue,
only 2 weeks ago i have decided to remove the bulb, then running the diagnostic kit which come up with no faults, it was just the case that the bulb was not needed, I Should have not taken out all the old bulb and putting all new bulbs in evey slot that a bulb could go,
again sorry for the late update but i was only 2 weeks ago i removed the bulb,

thanks for all your InPut!...

Regards
Dom.....
