Suspension Top Mount Bearing & Injectors?
-> 206 Problems

#1: Suspension Top Mount Bearing & Injectors? Author: Simon2710, Location: Leeds PostPosted: Sat Jan 19, 2013 10:53 am

Hi,

My suspension top mount bearing is shot and sounds like metal on bare metal when I turn steering wheel and recently car is drifting slightly. Does anybody have a rough idea of how much it would cost for a garage. I would replace myself but have heard some horror stories about using spring compressors. It is only the drivers side. Model is 206 1.6 GLX 2000.

Also, I recently had an engine warning light and ever since my car has been overrevving when I put my put flat down on accelerator and the car revs to about 5k before dropping. It is definately not the clutch slipping but also notice the injectors are making a bit more noise from behind driver side dashboard particularly when I'm driving. I know I need to get the error code and could be a number of things but does it sound like injectors need replacing?

Many thanks

Shouln't even take an hour to change one top mount. I'd do both sides as they come in pairs anyway.

It shouldn't cost much for top mount bearings but like all things suspension you should always replace in pairs. You need to get the codes read as you said but you might not get any without an elm on. When you get the garage to do the topmounts ask them to do a healthcheck. They might find something simple like an oil or exhaust leak. I'm not sure if that would be injectors or maf sensor or icv. Give it a clean using the how to's on here
