It just goes to show if you look after things correctly you get rewarded with a nice easy pass certificate come mot time

Like you say, keep on top of things and do regular maintenance checks, then the car looks after you.
I'd much prefer to pay for parts throughout the year as they start to wear rather than have a massive bill just to get the car back on the road after the MOT.
