#1: Just a couple of issues Author: 20Drift, Posted: Fri Mar 01, 2013 3:14 pm ---- First off:
Peugeot 206 LX 1.4 Manual, 75BHP, Petrol, W-Reg (Phase 1), 58,000 miles.
I've been driving around a lot recently, and noticed a few issues with the old Pug.
1) When going over speed bumps, (normal sized, not excessively large), faster than 10mph, I can hear a knock noise from the driver's side front suspension. Am I right in thinking that the springs may be worn out?
2) The standard Peugeot gearbox issue - I struggle a lot to get into reverse. I've tried the 'put it in first then reverse', and lifted the clutch up for a few seconds then repeated. These both work sometimes, but not always. I have to quite forcefully move the gear stick to get it to go in gear. The clutch bite is quite near the floor, but it's not slipping at all. Is there any way I could maybe adjust the clutch cable to make it easier to get into reverse?
3) There's a sort of lag between when I press the accelerator in gear, and when the engine responds to it, (i.e. revs & speed increasing). I'd say it's around a 0.5-1 second delay. Is there much I can do about this?

One way to get it in everytime, is to go into neutral, foot off clutch, then back on the clutch and it should go into reverse nice and easily!

I've tried it loads of times! It improves the situation a bit, but there is some resistance to it going in. It sort of clunks when it finally goes in

Not sure in the knocking noise could be a number of things best to get a garage to take a quick look
