-> 206 Problems

#1: 206 issue, any help really appreciated Author: harry206 PostPosted: Sat Mar 16, 2013 1:29 pm
    ----
Hello, long story... Yesterday i was driving at the end of a dual carriageway and there was a noise like the type when you run over the white lines in the road, there was a vibration and around 10 seconds after my car lost all power. I managed to slow down and pull into a farm where i sat for half an hour trying to fire up the car. The car would not go, after a phone call to my dad and a rescue tow home i really need some help to find the problem. I dont fancy paying huge fee's for someone to have a look at my car and then try and pull a fast one making me buy more and more things. My brother being a bus mechanic had a look and also changed the coil pack as this may have been the problem. But with a new one in today the problem still stays, it will not start. I will really appreciate any help on this for someone to point me in the right direction of what it could be, many thanks, Harry.

Does it sound any different than when you usually try to start it?

I'd be looking more specifically at a cambelt failure or a hole somewhere in the engine.

What He Said I agree!

take the plastic cover that covers the cambelt,and take a look,and pray that it's not cut into half,because starting the car with no cambelt on,will make you more problems more than you think off,lots of work to be done if that is the case.

are there any lights on the dashboard as EML light?

Making a noise then cutting out, would logically tell me its the fuel pump.
Have it code read or see if fuel is getting to the injectors.

its just like a whining noise when turning the ignition, nothing cuts out it just cut out the other day when travelling at 60 ish and didnt start... Brothers checked the cambelt and that seems fine, also checked that petrols getting through etc.. Hes getting a code tester onto it tomorrow so hopefully should find the problem:) cheers guys!

brothers narrowed it down to multiple cylinders misfiring, sais it can be something to do with the ignition? sounds scary and costly to me?
