#1: New exhaust way to loud Author: Achillez, Posted: Tue Mar 19, 2013 6:20 pm ---- Hello all, Hope someone can help me, Just installed a new exhaust, just to clear one thing up, it does have a middle box and back box, My old exhaust was dying badly, kept welding it every month, it was just rusting away, so I decided to buy a new exhaust, everything oem but the back box, I bought a twin pipe back box, I find it so damn loud it's annoying and embarrassing, driving at 50mph is OK, driving at 60mph is a headache.
I've found out there is no wadding, or fiber glass or stainless steel wool around the insides of my back box exhaust pipes ( not sure what the right name is for this )
I'm planning on cutting my back box open and I was wondering what the best stuff is to use to reduce a little noise, I've read alot that mild steel wool will just blow out very quickly and that stainless steel would aswell ( thought stainless didn't rust and die )
Can't find no info on this website regarding this stuff, so I am hoping that someone else has done this before and knows a little more than I do and may help me with some advice with which stuff I should use.
any questions just ask.
Many thanks

I wouldnt bother cutting it open if you can help it, just get an oem backbox.
#3: Re: New exhaust way to loud Author: Achillez, Posted: Tue Mar 19, 2013 6:30 pm ---- Can't go out and buy OEM back box now, I've cut my rear bumper to fit the back box, would much rather like reducing the noise a bit and keep this, My rear box has those baffles, but nothing around it, I thought these were wrapped? or the back box were packed with some sort of material? anyway I'm trying to find which material is the best and if someone has ever done this and recommend me what to go for.
