Low mileage 206 gti problems

#1: Low mileage 206 gti problems Author: Markco79 PostPosted: Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:13 am

Just bought a 54 plate 206 gti (138) with 27k genuine miles. Car is spotless, however gearbox feels sloppy and wooden and pulling away in first it feels like clutch is slipping. You then go into 2nd and it feels like it clunks into gear. All other gears are fine and it managed a 300 mile home on m1/a1 yesterday with no issues.

Any advice on what could be wrong? Clutch knack erred, clutch cable or even worse box is goosed. Strange for it to go wrong at 27k

If clutch is slipping, get it changed.

The clunky gearbox seems normal, but it depends what you're comparing it to.

Mine has a knackered bottom engine mount causing a clunky gearbox

change the clutch (seems to be a common problem), gearbox oil (dont reuse the old stuff), lower engine mount and gear linkage.
should make it feel better
