Oil leak help!
-> 206 Problems

#1: Oil leak help! Author: Natalieben PostPosted: Wed May 01, 2013 3:08 am
    ----
Hello I have a 206 1.4 look
The problems I'm having is passenger side when accelerate or turn corner it makes a whooshing sound almost like running water, and now there is an oil leak all down one side of the car it seems to be coming from front arch area. The oil is black as tar and doesn't match the colour of the engine oil, all fluids are full.
Any info would be appreciated
Tia

Which side is the oil going down?

Are you sure your engine oil isn't black.

If the oil is going down the passenger side, then that's the gearbox side of the car.

Have you checked all the fluid levels recently, like everyday if you think you have a leak. power steering, coolant, brake fluid.

If it's only making a noise when you go round a corner (does it make the noise if you are stationary and turn the steering wheel), then I would suggest looking at the power steering, but normally that oil is red.

The heater matrix can start making a noise like running water when it's on it's way out or has air in the system.

Are you sure it's black oil and not some other liquid that has gone up the side of the car and gone black with road dirt landing on it and sticking to it?

It will be low on water if it's making that sound. Oil leak could. Any where, clean your engine bay up and see where it reapears. Have you checked your oil and coolant levels?

It could be a knackered drive shaft UJ and the black oil could be the lub (grease) escaping from a split in the UJ gaiter.
