I did a BSI reboot. Not sure how it can be the radio.

It seems to happen only under these conditions:

Car at running temp.
Car just been driven hard (overtake or accelerate hard)
Coming to a stop
Clutch down feathering brake

The oil light flashes for a second so fast you can miss it. Sometimes the stop light will flash. The car beeps once
It can also happen with the beep but no light. This will happen once or twice on a 200 mile journey.

The oil level is fine on dash and dipstick. No oil leaks.

I am about to purchase an oem oil filter and an oil pressure switch.

If this does not fix it I will next oil change remove the sump and change the oil pump.

Other than this the car mpg is better than expected. It starts first time every time. Temp as expected. Car idles and accelerates great. Engine smooth and quite.

Sorry bud, saw this on my phone 1st time and was only showing the first page of the thread, so was just responding based on you're op, if it was low batt /alternator faults I would expect to see/have an air bag fault/light coming up, most voltage sensitive system on the car and will often come on with under voltage faults. Sounds like a dodgy oil level sensor with the light flicking on after acceleration/deceleration to me.

Of course wouldn't be a bad idea to get the oil pressure checked to be on the safe side first!

Any idea what that costs? Can any garage do it?

Depends if they have a pressure gauge or not and how accessible the pressure test port is, it should be 3.0 bar at 2000rpm with the engine warm.

Mick Cawley is close to you if you're in Spalding. He's on the road to Weston Hills, He's a Pug/Cit Specialist & ex Pug tech so would probably be able to check it out for you, I've got access to a Bosch KTS but depends what software releases it has and if the live data shows oil pressure, best way is a gauge on the port, probably half hr/1 hr Lab tops to check it.

Matt

PS Think I might have seen you're car round the corner from my house a couple of times in Holbeach Clough?

So have you got hydraulic clutch?

Not sure how I would know? There is a cable on top of the gearbox if that helps

Does the cable go to the arm on top of the box, and the arm moves when you push the clutch pedal?

Yes that's it

It's cable then.
OK, just making sure it's not the brake light that blinks due to fluid or whatever.

Hey tkf...why dont you make a recording of your problem then you can eliminate al the uncertainty and pin point the problem better...be sure to record sound and conditions...

If the fault is so random that its totaly unpredictable thats gonna be difficult, otherwise just match the conditions youve mentioned and set the fone away a few times until you get it...having a freind do the camera work might help..

Im sure plenty if us would like to see this recorded and see it sorted..

Well it looks like the garage may have found the fault while doing my headgasket cambelt etc. I will know more when I get the car back. If i do not get the fault again happy days Smile

I mentioned the fault to them and asked for the oil pressure sensor to be replaced. When they came to replace the oil filter, they found that a plate that activates the valve was missing.

So they have ordered and will fit this before I get the car back. They believe it is what was causing the issue as the spring would not be seated correctly.

I will update and move this to the solved section if I do not get the fault in the next couple of weeks.

So the car did the same old beep flash of the stop and oil light as the revs dropped below 800ish coming to a stop.

I have been looking on google and other forums and with everything I have already changed, I am now thinking it is the oil pump. Even ECP states an oil pump on the way out is difficult to diagnose but could result in flashing oil lights.

The mot Is due in sept / oct. I will probably have the pump replaced then......
