#1: 206 gti temp Author: jay651, Location: somerset PostPosted: Thu May 16, 2013 5:17 pm
    ----
got a bit of a niggle had a issue with the temp gauge on my gti when I used her on the road (18 months ago) just started to sort her out for track days and the like but basicly when I turn my ignition on my temp gauge goes straight to half and goes upto red and back down with the engine running but I have a temp probe in there and she isn't getting above 90 I also have the far wiring issue to sort as I hard wired the fan on a switch but will put it back to standard shortly
does anyone no which sensor is the gauge one
I am a diesel fitter for a ag dealer but im not so good with fiddly little petrols and had quite the sence of humour failure changing the cam belt and water pump
anyway thanks for your help

Is that not the oil level with the water gauge? And mine doesn't run at 90 unless it's around still.

it sita around 90 after 10 minutes give or take but the temp gauge is eather at half or above from the moment the cars started think I will replace the sensor as a matter of course and take it from there

The green coolant sensor works both gauge and ECU.

so I should be able to rule that one out as it runs sweet with non mill light or anything or would it still run ok if it had failed at half?
