Non starter
-> 206 Problems

#1: Non starter Author: J206PUG, Location: UK PostPosted: Fri May 17, 2013 10:49 am

Ok so things are all going Pete Tong for me at the minute , with starting the car . Ignition comes on , but no power to anything else fuel pump , under bonnet fuse box , ecu etc .
1.4 8v petrol Dec .2001 so the first muliplexed model .
At first i thought it was my Clifford alarm playing up but just had that checked and all was ok . They seem to think that it's a problem with the under bonnet fuse box . So quick question is the fuse box tied into the car ecu at all , or can I just get a second hand one and swap it over ? Also how crucial is the part numbers to match . Mine is marked up as S118470002 D BSM-B2 12v . All the ones I can see on ebay are marked up as T118470002 . This I persume is an undated model ? So can I just replace mine with this " updated" one or will I have to track down an exact coded one .

Oh and the tow truck guy snapped a coil over spring strapping the wheels to the truck , must have been on it's last legs but can things get any worse Evil or Very Mad

Thanks in advance
John

Multiplexed doesn't have the fuel cut off switch.

If only it was a simple as a fuel cut off . Doesn't explain why no power to anything . Ignition is drawing power , but non is getting through the under bonnet fuse box and no power to bsi unit . Now does bsi power supply come through the under bonnet fuse box or does it have its own supply ? Also still need an answer to whether the fuse box is linked to the brain or is a dumb unit that can just be swapped ? Anyone ?

The BSI does have a fuse in the engine bay fuse box.

No, the fuse box isn't paired with the BSI or the ECU

What electrics do you have working? Lights, wipers, radio

Also the number you listed in the first post isn't a Peugeot part number.

I get all dash lights but no headlights , wipers fuel pump etc . the number was just what I got off of the top of the label but I now believe that the part number is on the side . I really don't know what to do now as if it's not the fuse box it could lead to all manner of things .
I'm feeling that it's now time to let go as it's becoming expensive to keep up with things and it's starting to look tierd paint work now starting to go etc . At nearly 12 years old I have had a good run buying from new , just seems like part of the family now so saying good bye is hard .

Just before you scrap it have you tried the bsi soft reboot procedure yet???
This being in need of a reboot can cause all kinds of strange happenings on tje multiplexed cars...from no lights to horn non stop and all thats in between its really worth trying the reboot as it only takes ten minits and costs nothing..
See the how to section for the required process description...

How are you checking for voltage at the fuse box?

With the black meter lead immediately connected on battery negative or with it on either the engine or body?

If the black is on the engine or body and you have a major earth fault there won't appear to be voltage at the fuse box when, in fact, there is.
