I got a GTi spoiler today for a bargain price and there's only one thing I can't work out how to do to make it look mint so far.
It has Tigerseal on it and it's been taken off so roughly it's got old paint and primer attached to the old Tigerseal in places. That show you how well this stuff bonds.
This stuff is set rock hard on the spoiler and I need to take it off so I can fit it with new stuff to my car. There is always a solution to any form of glue no matter what it is. With Tigerseal being popular there must be some form of remover.
I'm not going to be the only one who needs help on this issue so all advice and help welcome

I've heard off all sorts of things to try and soften it. A hairdrier, petrol. T and G remover, paint thinner, nail varnish remover. Never tried any of them, and I would use any method involving solvents with caution just in case they damage the spoiler.

Hence the reason I got asked to do another I turned it down. Way too much effort for what I charged
I wouldn't suggest using solvents especially if you plan on painting the spoiler afterwards.

Only where new glue will cover it again so it won't show-up.
I doubt solvents would do sfa unless you tried paint-stripper in which case it will need masking all around.

I've set to work with the stanley knife and God this stuff is tough. I'll get a wire brush attachment this week as I need one anyway for stripping my old wheels. And yeah Dave I won't be doing this again matey

Mind you don't damage any non-glued part.
Might be worth masking it before doing the brush.

There's a small brush attachment at B&Q for a couple of quid so I'll pick one up tomorrow and give it a go.

OK, but I would go for one that is'not too stiff otherwise you'll gouge the surface too much.
I think you can get plastic ones as well.

Getting the old Tiger Seal off is hard work but coming along nicely. The only reason it's going slow is lack of time and the cordless drill battery dies very fast.
The problem is I have 2 bolt threads set into the spoiler. One is clear of Tiger Seal, one is plugged up with it. How can I get this stuff out without damaging the thread so that I can have the spoiler properly bolted as well as glued?
Any ideas guys? I've thought about drilling it out and re-tapping the threads but the metal bolt fastenings don't look very thick as it is and don't want to weaken them for obvious reasons.

You'll need to help it at the top by sepparating with a stanley knife.
'Won't work if it's gone too deep in the hole though as this stuff is diabolical.

I was thinking similar, but trying a stud removal tool instead to see if it would unscrew, so to speak.

I could try working some nail polish remover in as it's on metal and wouldn't attack the plastic of the spoiler itself so it may well work.
Yeah Macca if push comes to shove and IF I can find out the exact size tap then carefully drill out the Tiger Seal and maybe a tap used gently will take out the residue. I guess I could soften it with solvent first too.

And/or pick it out with a suitably shaped tool like bent-head screwdriver etc. Then use tap to clear any remnants out.
I wouldn't bother with solvent at all. Try it on the stuff you've already managed to peel-off and let us know if anything happens.
Some solvents you wouldn't want even a wiff of it going near car paintwork because they can dull it through time.
