Suspension Problem

Hi,

My car is:

Peugeot 206 1.4 SW Estate 2004 (2003 Body)

The other car, I went over a speed bump quite slowly (5mph-) and when the rear went over I heard a massive bang (I think tow bar hit the speed bump) and after checking visually Drivers side is sitting low and wheel isn't straight.

Jack the car up and swap wheels over incase it's wheel/tyre but still same problem. Inspected parts of the car and cant find anything wrong and wondered if anyone had any views on the matter. Did get some squeeking couple days before this bang which I thought new shock was going to be needed but cant find anything wrong with them. After jacking the car back to the ground the wheel is still not straight but took car for a drive and it is remaining at normal height.

Thank you

from what I see,I think you have a problem with the shocks, take the wheel off,and take a look on how it's ,it might be blown, and all the oil is out

Looks like rear shock has gone. Jack it uP and have a look. I wouldnt recommend drivIng like that.

After jacking the rear of the car, the passenger side looks as if it has been replaced not long ago but the drivers side looks abit rusty but either has leaking oil and not totally depressed.

Before I order a new set, could it not be the rear axle?

Thanks

I'm not to sure if the shock would cause the car to drop as on my 180 I ran with no shocks on the back for 1 day and the didnt drop at all! I know the SW uses the rear axle set up as the 180

There would be so much strain on the torsion bars. I would remove the shock absorber and see what condition its in.

A broken rear shock should not affect ride height or angle of the wheel. I am not saying the shock is good but that will not be the cause of low ride height or wheel being out of align.

I'd jack it up and wheel off then go from there. Could be the stub pin, which peugeot no longer sell.
