Noticed today and earlier in the week while driving on the motorway the steering wheel felt really light around 70mph+ all tyres are at the correct pressure so not sure what the reason behind it is

This is incorrect tracking 9 x out of 10.

If it's 180 with variable steering, that could be the issue too.

But usually tracking when it's like that.

Funny you should of had that happen as I had exactly the same thing last week. Conditions were dry doing about 70ish on dual carriage way when it felt all light and no feel from the road. Slowed down and all was well again. Not done it before and not done it since !!

yeah mine act's in the same way as yours and does it everytime i use the motorway but is fine on normal roads, going to get the tracking checked if it's that

It's not your tracking. Mine does the same and previous owner had tracking done a month prior to me owning it. Anything over 70ish and my car becomes really light and twitchy from the front end, and as you say I first noticed this when I took a trip to London.

There is no variable steering on my car as it stays the same weight all the way from 0-70.

If it was variable I would have thought it would get heavier as you go up the speed range and not lighter.

What He Said

There's less assistance at higher speed.

That mean there's nothing wrong with how the steering reacts?

And thats why people traveling at high speeds, lose control of the steering (avoiding an hazard ahead)
because of the over-steering the car actually does a spin.

As long as it's working properly.
