#4: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: 20Drift, Posted: Sun May 26, 2013 10:46 am ---- I'd estimate it at £200 - £300 including parts & labour. If you supplied the windscreen, then labour would be around £50 to £100 I reckon

I'll dig his number out as he's not too far from you. Last edited by macca1411 on Sun May 26, 2013 10:51 am; edited 1 time in total

Auto Direct Windscreens (Lee) 08081662004, 01204439170, 07912487892
If you can't get him on those, give me a shout and I'll see if I can get him through the family.

#9: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Sun May 26, 2013 11:02 am ---- Mobile fitter.
One point though, when he came to do mine he bought the windscreen for the auto sensor with him so had to go and swap it, so make sure you tell him which one it is.
#10: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: iainlovatt, Posted: Sun May 26, 2013 11:40 am ---- I wasn't aware claiming a windscreen repair would affect you no claims! I'm pretty sure it doesn't!!
I have chips repaired all the time! The excess I pay is £10 and auto glass then charge the insurance Company. It has never affected my ncb.
#11: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: broadblaster, Location: south coastPosted: Sun May 26, 2013 12:20 pm ---- just claim on your ins as it will not effect your NCB.
#12: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: ryanovsalford, Location: manchesterPosted: Sun May 26, 2013 1:20 pm ---- Ok cheers chaps was just worried it would effect me no claims but if it dosent then fair enough
#13: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun May 26, 2013 1:39 pm ---- If Autoglass do the work ( as they do for most insurance replacements ) look out for the pisspoor Guardian branded screen they will fit & also the damage to the car there lacklustre fitters cause
#14: Re: windscreen replacement cost Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Sun May 26, 2013 2:31 pm ---- Had mine replaced with Autoglass a couple years back, (insurance) had some sort of guarantee with it, anyhow a crack appeared at the lower drivers corner a year on, and they refused to replace it saying the wipers had caused it.
Had a big do at the premises, and told them to expect a letter from my solicitors.
To cut a long story short one of the top men came out ( after complaining to my insurance company) and one of their fitters replaced it.
It was confirmed when they removed it, it had not been fitted to standard (whatrver that means)
And the windscreen will be sent away for analysas.
Never heard owt again.
I have since learnt that it comes out of the fitters bonuses if they make cockups.

Does this suggest the aftermarket screens are of lower quality than the originals?
