Clonky sounding engine.

206 1999 1.1 l 95k

The car is making a clonky noise along side its whistling noise (mentioned in a previous thread) - this is a noise that happens when I pull off or floor it in any gear...

This does sound like the drive shafts - but they wer echanged two years ago (fully documented from a trusted source)

the previous owner has no recollection of this noise (family) but didnt understand what I was on about.

Is this a normal noise for the 1.1's? I have never had one before - pretty crappy if it is normal as it sounds like the car has no oil (It does) .

1) Have the valve tappet gaps been checked ever?
2) Left-hand gearbox-to-chassis mount is also so important I don't know where to begin.

Looking at your mileage, worth asking (family) if the clutch has ever been changed. Or looking at any maintenance reciepts, records.
Thrust bearings can make a whistleing noise.
When driving say in 3rd or 4th gear dip your clutch and see if the whistleing noise comes and goes as you do it.
