#1: HELP!! COMMS 2000 unit Author: ed2k12 PostPosted: Tue Jun 11, 2013 5:06 pm

Hi

I am having a problem with my wiper fluid not coming out; there is no pumping sound when I pull for the fluid to come out.

I have been to a small local garage who say that it the motor is fine and are suggesting that it is an electrical problem.
I am thinking of maybe getting a new comms unit for my 51 plate lx 2002 but have had problems finding a compatible one can anyone help?

The indicator is not in the best of shape so could do with replacing for that reason but when I do pull for the wiper fluid to get ejected the wipers do wipe a couple of times as when the fluid did come out so does that mean the garage is wrong and that the signal is getting through or not?

Thanks

ECP is one of the most popular places to get the unit. I think they start at around £120 and go up to £200 depending on the specifications.

You could check fuse 14 in the engine bay. Looking at the wiring diagram, there are also a couple of relays you could check.
For piece of mind, I'd check the pump myself and then check voltage is getting to the pump when you pull the stalk (wires 500 and 542). Then it's just a case of working backwards.

the best way to make sure if the garage was right or wrong is to check it yourself,If you have a Multimeter, take the motor plug out, which is located behind the wheel arch on the driver side,so you can have access by 2 methods, first is to remove the wheel arch to gain access for the motor,or chose the easier way by gaining access to it from underneath the car,by looking behind the bumper, and let someone activate the washing order, and see if you have a 12V on the multimeter or not.
If there is not 12V,then you have a problem with your com2000,if there is a 12V ,then the motor is dead.

Are you getting the sound from the pump when you hold the stalk in spray position and its just no water or is it not pumping at all??
