Are the two different in terms of the electrical connections? I always thought they are the same but I'm asking because I have fitted a CC lamp to a hatchback and the sidelights and brakelights don't work as they should......?

Should be the same. the only difference is the trim around the light unit

Connections are the same, as I have known many people to fit them before, as said above its just the black plastic trim that's diffrent.

I swapped out the trim on one to fit a hatchback unit to a CC and it worked fine.

I'd check the connections again or the bulbs. It might be a bad earth. Check the cables haven't been pulled out of the connector block. I think the light just has metal strips to connect to the bulbs .. make sure they aren't being pushed out of alignment either.

If you go from Phase 1 to Phase 2, the connectors are in a different position on the back (vertical rather than horizontal). In the hatch, I had to cut the cable clip to the body or the wire weren't long enough.
