Had a ride up to Winter Hill today. Most people know the transmitter from driving along the M61 and very few go up to it. It's the first time the OH has been up there and she's lived within 5 miles of it her whole life. Didn't intend getting car photos, so only a couple including the car.

Completely by accident, I found a new mod for the car

This picture is misleading. The road is wide enough for a car and a pushbike to pass each other.

Shame it was so hazy as you get some good views of Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and Manchester on a clear day.

Reebok Stadium

A few facts for those interested. Winter Hill is 456 metres (1,496 ft) above sea level. The mast stands a further 309 metres (1,015 ft) above that making it the highest TV transmitter in the UK. The top 6 meters were removed when the digital switch over occurred. The base has a diameter of 2.75 metres (9.0 ft) and has internal access for engineers to service the aerials and aircraft warning lights. (Source Wikipedia)

Blimey - that's some exhaust! [seeing how you don't seem to have one in the usual place!] Smile

It's TV, radio, mobile phones (just been upgraded for the 4G network) and a few other radio signals Tim.

Cheers Lee. Car needs a good waxing. Only had chance to wash it recently. I've added a few figures at the bottom of the post, and it is huge. Feel sorry for the guys who removed the top 6 meters. Looks even better at night when the aircraft warning lights are lit, and you can see them from over 20 miles away.

Laughing Barking. The exhaust is there but it was put on off centre by the previous owner and the clamp is that old it will just snap if I try to adjust it. Leaving it until I have to replace the back box so I don't get any leaks. I tried bending the mounts but they are solid.
