#1: Coil pack mod 6555.K9 Condensor??? Author: MadzeR86, Location: Ireland PostPosted: Sat Jun 22, 2013 6:01 am

I bought a 6555.K9 Condensor to put on the coil pack.
Can anyone tell me what wire to splice the 6555 K9 Condensor into?
People say pin 4 on the coil pack connector, but i cant see
any numbers on the pins. Are the pins numbered verticaly or horizontal?
The wires are also coloured so maybe somebody knows the right colour?

Colours mean nothing. It's the numbers on the wires that identify them.

What coilpack are you fitting it to?
What year/model 206?
Are you getting misfiring?

Numbers are on the plug attached to the loom.

Its a 2001 206 1.1 LX
I took out the old Sagem and replaced it with a Bougicord. Had to change the coil pack because it was causing a misfire. Cant see any numbers on the Plug wire or coil connector side. Do i just count the pins, and if so across or down?

If you binned the Sagem why are you fitting the cap as well now to the Bougicord?

Pin numbers are printed on the plastic (not the wires) of the connector which plugs-in to the coilpack or socket on the coilpack itself.

Is the colour of socket on the new coilpack the same as the old one?

Make sure you have the right one fitted as there are 3 types which look roughly the same.

I can go check which wire to splice onto for you when I fire her up later, if you want? (Can't remember off hand)

Well i heard you still need the resistor attached even on the Bougicord coil. It earths any electric spikes thats come from the coil pack, because without the resistor the electric spike would go straight into the ECU. I have the grey socket coil pack

OK, mine is grey socket and pin 4 is top-left looking at the cable-side (not pin-side) of the connector with it plugged in-place. I have a cream coloured wire in that position and Sagem S2000 V.23 ECU.

Be careful doing all this obviously as you wouldn't want that capacitor on a coil-end line as that will eventualy damage the ECU, if not straight-away.

Yes, but;

Is that your 2001 engine bay?
Is the coilpack socket colour (black) the same as the previous one it replaced? (not the loom plug which is grey).

I still am not sure why you're fitting it tbh on a bougicord coilpack, as I believe it was a fix for some Sagem coilpacks like I have on mine..

Was this not actually a suppressor to stop electrical noise interfering with the radio?

No.

This was a fix by PSA for a problem with early Sagem coilpacks that would cause interference in a way which either damaged the ECU or caused misfiring in certain conditions.

I fitted it pre-emptively because mine has Sagem and fell in the Info-Flash RPO application range.

The Sagem coil pack if it misfired could in turn back spike down the wiring loom to the engine ecu & take out the coil driver inside which means the ecu is skip fodder.

Yes, that's what I meant, 'back-emf'. That is also classified as 'interference' when it causes undesired opperation leading to skip fodder. Smile

I'm still running the original one, recon I should replace it?
I have just about everything else appart from the chassis and glass on this thing. Laughing

Sounds like my old 1.4 then, pretty much everything had been replaced by the time it went.

Sorry no lol thats just an image from the internet. I have found the tiny numbers on the plug Embarassed !!!, i think im going blind lol. Anyways number 4 pin was the cream coloured wire, and i have since spliced the wire into it. I will post a picture of 6555.K9 Condensor installed tomorrow. Cheers for the help Very Happy
