#1: 1.1 spark plug removal Author: westham42, Posted: Sat Jun 29, 2013 6:33 am ---- Hi guys.
Just been outside to change plugs, and can't even get the old ones out. The removal tool feels like it will cross thread them so what can I do?
I have had a lot of cars and done this simple job countless times, so why is this so different? lol
Any help would be great.

Personally I hate the type of plug spanner you are using.

Have always used a longer type and had enough room for it to fit in there so it's the first time using this kind.

I always remember it with clockwise to tighten anti clockwise to anti tighten..some people use righty tighty lefty loosey..

Aye mate, done loads of times so am ok on that, but thanks for posting
Just annoying the tool I bought seems to be crap, as Timon says.
I have rooted through the garage and found a 16mm long socket with the insert and also a ratchet and small extension to fit so should be ok to sort these tomorrow

Trip to Halfords or local spares shop soon I think lol
Baffling - has the previous owner put different plugs in for some reason?
Or do I need a thinner 16mm long socket?

I have a 1/2 inch drive that only fits part way as it touched the head and when it gets to the plug won't go any further. I think that may be he problem you have as you can't get plugs with a 1mm larger socket fitting.
My 3/8 drive plug spanner fits no problem so I suggest you measure or very carefully compare the outside diameter of the plug spanner you are using and make sure its replacement is a fraction smaller.
